Are we going to Hell in a handcart and whose fault is it?

On the topic of this thread, John Lennon once sang "Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see". Sometimes I wish I could be like that, but I'm naturally intuitive, morals are important to me, society is important to me as are my fellow humans. I'm sure if I could ignore, take at face value, or misunderstand what goes on around me I probably would be easier, less stressed. But I am who I am, burdened by my thirst for knowledge, I'll just have to drink my self to happiness instead.

Warnocks to blame, well, some on this forum blame him for everything else so he may as well have this on his shoulders as well. Should we end up doing well this season ( the one some have already written off ) then I suspect there will be a fair bit of humble ie being eaten.

Anyway, back to the OPs theme:

So many things on that list have a relationship to leaving the EU. It pretty much affects everything and hasn’t been managed. Global pandemics are also a shock that none of us have experienced in our lives, so a bit of both magnifying each other.

The Brexit thing was always going to be a slow drip that eventually drowns you rather than a sudden shock.

All of it is connected to breaking a system that used to work, and I think why it feels like we’re going to hell in a handcart is a few chickens coming home to roost (not via truck, there isn’t any and the ones on the truck are stuck in customs anyway.)

I literally do not need to know, though. And a few decades ago, when information did not flow so freely, I would not have. Having deaths beamed to your pocket 24 hours a day is not desirable or helpful for many people. We are not equipped for it.
Do you remember the names of the many other people murdered this year, say a prayer for them every morning, keep them in your thoughts? No you forget them when they fall out of the news cycle like everyone else. We remember the shocking ones perhaps, the famous ones. That’s not crass it’s reality.

Do not confuse my not needing to know what horrors are occurring in the world at this present moment with not caring. I cared so much about the troubles of the world as a younger man that I ended up In therapy and medicated.

Empathy: the ability to understand and share the feelings of another

Many of you are rather narrow minded for such lovely people

My message was simple, maybe consume less news and judge things based on your own lived experience. It worked for me, maybe it will help you. Try it and see.
And your responses seem to suggest that taking such steps to facilitate your own happiness are somehow less valid.
You’re one step short of saying Real men read the news. Do you just want people to be unhappy? If someone has a way of living that works for them why would you mock it so readily? I can only assume you want people to be as angry or as disappointed as you are and That people happily going on with their lives, less affected by the worsening of the country, is somehow troubling to you.
I just don’t get it.

Life really is **** though.
I’ve nothing to look forward to at all.
no hope of any resumption of normal life whatsoever.
Argue all you bloody like about politics and Brexit, and who’s fault it is, today’s fuel shortages just show how broken a country this is and how broken we all are by the past 18 months

And today’s fuel shortages are caused by Brexit. It’s a break we could fix if only people could admit they were lied to

No. Today’s fuel shortages were caused by an idiot government minister going on breakfast television telling the nation not to panic buy.

And there lies the problem. We have a group of people who, for unknown reasons, just find it impossible to blame brexit for the issues caused by brexit
I’m not arguing about Brexit with you. I didn’t vote for it. I think it’s a stupid idea. Economically and culturally.
The whole panic buying thing was idiots going out and buying petrol because a government minister told them not to panic buy.

Have you read Sapiens? Sounds very much like you have.

How would people who voted for Brexit admitting these problems are a result fix the problem?

You seem obsessed with getting a handful of brexiteers on here to admit fault but what difference will it make?

The damage is done. We have left and we aren’t able to go back. Not any time soon.

Admitting they got it wrong won’t change things sadly.

I think they know they’ve thrown the country into unnecessarily turmoil but, hey, they “won”. For many, that’s all that matters.
