Ashes - 4th Test

Finishing at 6.30 today is ridiculous. They know the weather forecast and even if better than expected loss of play is guaranteed. Just bloody play on for an extra hour while got the weather.
If time is going to be lost or is lost, I don’t understand why they can’t extend it to 4 sessions could play 9-7

We lost 7 overs yesterday and another 7 today. There is no way those overs couldn't have been made up each day.

Crawley has just been quoted as saying that England's plan is just to bat once in the Test, unless something goes wrong tomorrow. Get in tomorrow, make a few hundred more and then bowl them out.

Sounds fine by me.

Yes say a 280 lead will put enormous pressure on the Aussies. With deteriorating batting conditions. They’d have to bat out of their skin to creat a challenging second innings total for England

I think they'll just bat one session tomorrow and have a go at the Ozzies regardless of the lead.

We could have a lead of around 200 by then as long as things don't go wrong in the morning. I think England probably need 5 sessions to win the game from here. If we get a full day tomorrow, I would hope we would get at least two sessions over Saturday and Sunday 🤞🏻

Saturday looks a wash out perhaps and Sunday will be on and off. It’s going to be hard work forcing a result from here, possible, but going to take a massive session with the ball tomorrow afternoon. May need to bowl them out for like 150 or at least have them or 6 down at close to give enough time for a result via any play Sunday.

What did people make of Crawleys interview by the way

"I'd rather play this way <over the last 12 months or so> than play consistently"

Made me laugh -that is a bold comment you can only make after a 189 in the Ashes! if he had said that after his 33 in the opening I can imagine the uproar! 😂

I know what he means though, risk and reward etc

Well the forecast seems to have got worse for Sunday now, so today might be the only day with any play which would be a shame given the position England are in.

It’s going to be a draw unfortunately. Little to no play Sat or Sun.

England going to need to declare by lunch at the latest to have any shout of a result…which looking at the forecast needs to be today.

Need someone to stand up and be the bowling hero today.

This mentality is being drilled into him by the England coaches/captain.
He keeps being selected despite his erratic form because when he is on it he can produce match winning innings. We hear it constantly from the pundits as well

Yep - as I say, on days like yesterday its great to rave about 'bazball'

But, its a real hit and miss strategy in test cricket for me.

Providing for an entertaining series however dont get me wrong!

Another quick 100+ this morning. Potentially a lead of 180-200 and declare or be bowled out trying. Got to get them in early this morning and I fancy us to try and give them 7/8 overs before lunch. Hopefully get some play on Sunday in case we aren't able to move it on completely today.

The forecast looks terrible so fully expect a draw. Shame as after winning last time I fancied England to back it up with another win.

Saturday looks a total wash out. Sunday isn't looking horrific. I would hope for some play Sunday. Even if its a bit on and off
