I did when I met him.

I was working for Connexions and he was the face they used to promote the Kick Start programme. We had to go for a photo shoot near the Transporter Bridge and I had just returned to work after we had won the League Cup. Little Timmy was very bitter about it and I let him know.
 
Comedy writing at its best. Firstly by the creators D1ck Clement and Ian La Frenais ( who wrote the Likely Lads series) and then Stan Hey ( Football Manageress) who was also a brilliant writer.

Their quality comes through especially in the first two series which are , in my opinion, the best. Sadly Gary Holton died half way through Series 2 and he appeared sporadically in the later episodes of that series as offcuts from earlier filming.
 
One of my memories as a kid was running back from scouts on a Friday to make sure i was home in time to watch auf wiedersehen pet with my Dad whilst Mam was at bingo. A few years ago i found them on torrents so i decided to rewatch them, one a week on a friday night at 9pm. Hopefully the old fella joined me. :)

True.
They wanted to feature characters with recognisable accents that people could relate to.
I still feel a bit seen off that although the whole programme was based on the exploits of Teessiders, Teesside got short shrift from it. The area wasnt really shown as anything other than down at heel and shabby. ( which it is, I grant you)

Suppose that's what you get with a jawdee and a Cockney in charge of it 😉😉

Maybe the original play should be brought back to life and call it "Our lass, I miss my Parmo"
 
I actually really love the opening theme too, “Breaking Away” by none other than European Cup-winning Liverpool manager Joe Fagan!
