Back line gives me kittens

Really wouldn’t be surprised if we see Fry leave before the window is closed. Wilder basically said today that Fry can’t play the way he wants and we all know he wants Lenihan to be his man.

Dael might love the club and the area, but he needs to be starting every single game at this stage of his career and he deserves to.

Two goals given away from left wing throw ins! The first from a split and a throw to the centre forward. The second a man running free into the box one pass then a cross rifled in by Giles.
How can we give TWO goals away like that?
I admire the fight back after both goals but defending like that throughout the season is going to cost us dearly!

I beg to differ he is the best defender at the club and probably the only one who could make the transition to premier league level
He's lucky to be posting championship level. I don't think he's good enough for promotion aspirations. He's an old school CB who isn't good with his feet but not aggressive enough when it comes to winning headers. His booking today sums him up most games, a second behind what he should have done already.

He had a very good spell last season where he did look the part but that's the only period of a decent length he's shown he's capable. If he gets back to that form then he'll be an asset. That said, McNair's balls down the right hand side were poor in the second half so Fry wasn't the only one kicking long.

Kicking long isn't as bad diving in and getting turned which lenihan was guilty of on several occasions

I can't argue with lenihan being hasty at times but in possession he seems assured, which is clearly what wilder wants. I don't mind him diving in either if he has cover but today he didn't on several occasions so heart was in my mouth once or twice.

Strange one with Fry. He wasn't injured but didn't look fit either. Wilder says he hooked him because he wasn't pressing. But pre-Wilder Fry was one of the CB's who actually did take the ball forward on occasion. Now Djksteel is doing most of it and looking decent doing it. Having said that he's less effective in the defensive part of the game. Lenihan isn't quick and McNair was covering breakaways from his midfield role by the end. That was encouraging but a bit frightening given that McNair isn't exactly lightning fast. If Wilder gets the LCB he wants we should hopefully see the back line become less worrying than yesterday when it looked like United could score from any attack.

I get the impression lenihan is first pick regardless of form as he is a wilder signing, hes been only a 5 or 6 out of 10 so far this season, still awaiting that clean sheet with him in the side.

And I don’t like kittens.

Dael looks like he’d lose an It’s a Knockout race with the big wobbly giant. Anfernee and Bola look like losing the ball every time they receive and get pressed. Lenihan good today, though.
Lenihan looked like a fish out of water playing the left sided role, its been a massive issue for a while now, hopefully Greaves can come in and fit in seamlessly

Fry was utter turd in that first half
What game were you watching? Fry didn’t lose a battle all afternoon before he was hooked. His distribution left something to be desired granted but we looked more solid with him in the middle. Lenihan was at fault for both goals which is some achievement.

He played for 45 mins and was subbed, tells its own story. He isn’t fitting with how we want to play. Long balls out of play to often, Lenihan is better on the ball so far but his defending has been poor. Needs to sort it out. If we sign a left centre back I am sure it will all settle down. We look so shaky

agreed, they've pretty much all gone off the boil at the same time strangely. Lenihan was a rock for Blackburn msot of last season, but has had awful decision making since coming in. Fry looks lightweight and lacking in confidence, Bola has been poo, Dijksteel bullied, and McNair isn't playing regularly as a CB right now. We probably need a new body and one other to find their form and it could change quickly, but right now it's not working. 6 conceeded in 3 games, and some very poor goals and individual errors.

get back to basics , lenihan, dropped.

Mcnair L: Fry M : dijksteel R

or if he wants to play lenihan

mcnair L, lenihan M Fry R

lenihan really needs fry to play because he is slow as ****

Tinkering with something that really wasnt broken

Lenihan has been at fault (at least partly) for 4 of the 6 goals we’ve conceded this season. I think that speaks volumes over a Dael Fry that’s recovering from injury and was hooked because “he played too many long balls”

As I say let’s give it a bit of time. I think Lenihan needs to relax a bit but I think he’s more suited at the moment. Interesting to see what happens with Fry.
