Baz McCullum - You'll not wonder what if.....................................

Definitely a more attacking approach with McCullum and Stokes. I think we've been defensive for a while with Root (natural given some of the "talent" at his disposal).

Think we're more likely to "go down swinging" with these two at the helm but expect some hefty defeats in the interim while it gets settled, probably starting with the Kiwis this summer.

I like the guy, I like the player.

However, I still feel that international coaches compromise the integrity of international sport.

I hope the appointment works out but for all the great career he had as a test player his coaching is in limited overs so far.
I think we have lots of players who thrive in limited overs cricket but who lack either the temperament / focus / skill / patience of concentration for a test, we are constantly dropping players every series and replacing with players who have failed in previous series.
We have 2 bowlers in Broad and Anderson who are at the end of their career and 2 fast bowlers ( Wood and Archer) whose bodies cannot withstand playing multiple tests in a short space of time.

I have high hopes for the new Regime but expectations are low, even so I have tickets for lords on the Saturday and Sunday of the First test of the summer v New Zealand and for the first day of the first day v India in Edgbaston.

As an aside the County Championship has some staggering talents taking place year - Marnus, Afridi etc.

Could this aid the development of some of our red ball players?

As a kiwi must admit surprised a bit at the appointment. Brendon hasn't coached in the longer form of the game and ironically his coaching success has come in the IPL with Kolkata Knights. Wish him all the very best - except with his first series starting in a couple of weeks! His aggressive tactics will become evident I am sure

Its ridiculous how many injured bowlers we have

Mahmood
Archer
Wood
Stone
Fisher
Robinson unfit

So England are going to bat Pope at 3. How long as the season been going now 5/6 weeks don’t you think it might have been a good idea to bat him at 3 for Surrey.

Brooks scoring runs for fun still he won’t get picked in the team.

Don’t think this lad will play test cricket again
I agree that something has to give, he may be a player who only plays limited overs games.
Hope he recovers from this latest setback quickly and has an injury few years but think some players bodies struggle with playing all 3 formats.
