Bill Gates: Solving Covid easy compared with climate

Yes but the thread is about whether Climate Change is a bigger problem to solve - I would agree with that wouldn't you? And in the long run it is the problem that will make permanent irreversible changes for the whole planet. Whether you argue with Bill Gates or not we have a massive job on our hands don't we?
Of course we do, but as long as we are taking the lead from unqualified people like Bill Gates who's carbon footprint is probably one of the largest of living humans, then we won't solve anything. Follow the science (remember)

What also won't solve anything is alienating someone who has the resources and will to help.

Will explain why he's bought all that farm land in America. 🤣
There's a distinction in the word farm land and ranches in the USA. One is about fruit and vegetables and the other cattle etc. The largest farm land owners are miniscule compared with ranch and timber land.

And this thread highlights the huge problem we have. The solution relies on a collective responsibility and the world to work together. At the moment everyone blames someone else and perversely those that speak out are the first to be targeted. Yes Bill Gates, Lewis Hamilton etc are being hypocritical in their actions but they are providing a service by stimulating a debate at least. This from someone who works in an industry targeted by both the above!

Exactly.
He's bought all the farmland to grow fruit and veg ready for when actual, natural beef is removed from circulation. Coupled with his purchase of a railroad company he's going to be quids in isn't he?

He makes some valid points.
Although I'm sure the kids on the African continent who were forced down mines to dig out the minerals for his computer chips back in the day might see some irony in it.

The easiest and quickest way of solving climate change is by depopulation.
That is quite sinister.

Never mind Randy, once they've injected the mind control chips into you for your COVID vaccine you will be fully compliant.

Classic. None of what I've posted is conspiracy. It's been widely reported. Do you honestly think he's going to grow fruit and veg, transport it to marketplaces all for free?

The double standards on this forum are hilarious. Bezos gets absolute pelters whilst Gates is thought of as the second coming of Christ.

🤣

For the record if I had the same the amount of money as Bill Gates is do the exactly the same thing. It's a great business plan.

I know right.

Let me introduce you to Agenda 21. A non binding action plan devised by the United Nations.

Hello mate

what about this would you like us to consider?

I've had a read but cant spot anything particularly contentious. sounds quite nice. Sustainability and that. Good stuff.

"One major objective of the Agenda 21 initiative is that every local government should draw its own local Agenda 21. Its aim initially was to achieve global sustainable development by 2000, with the "21" in Agenda 21 referring to the original target of the 21st century

Europe turned out to be the continent where LA21 was best accepted and most implemented.[10] In Sweden, for example, all local governments have implemented a Local Agenda 21 initiative"

And I do like Sweden

There's a far right conspiracy theory that this is about world wide dictatorship.

No one can say anything about a big issue such as climate change without some whataboutery being brought up. In many cases the whataboutery is no more than an attempt to move the argument away from the massively important issue at hand - an issue I would say that is even more important than Covid and when we can all go the the pub and watch the football again,

See also: Greta Thunberg and probably anyone else who puts their head above the parapit over this issue.

If we all look close enough, and do enough digging we can find some hypcrosy in everyone. Does that mean that the main issue is shunted into a siding, whilst everyone gets angry that Bill Gates once flew somewhere in an aeroplane etc?

Natural beef will become a luxury sooner than later. Maybes not in your lifetime or mine but definitely in my grandkids' future. Look at how much of a contribution to climate change that the meat industry makes.

So what good will all this farmland do Bill Gates? Not much of a cunning plan is it? Let alone some money making scheme. Old Billy Boy will be pushing up the daisies by that time. And that's not the same as you inferred when you said "natural beef is removed from circulation".

Nothing contentious at all.

Depopulation sounds sinister but it's actually education about reproduction etc. Not my words, those of others who have expertise in the field.

The sooner people switch into a sustainable state of mind the better for my grandkids.

I just bought his book and I look forward to reading it.

It's a shame that some people are slagging him for one issue or another.

It's like remembering a footballer for getting a red card while forgetting the fact that he scored 100s of goals & loads of trophies.

As bear mentioned there is a difference between farmland and ranching land. Do try and keep up instead of trying to score points in some imaginary game you've devised in your head to belittle literally everything I say in any thread. 👍🏻

Why can't he leave a legacy for himself and a business for his family? You can't take money with you to the otherside.

Naturally sourced beef will become a rare treat in the future, that's just how it's going to be.
