I think Bill Gates in his pomp was primarily a software guy. But i could be mistaken. I don't think he has ever manufactured "chips" on a large scale ever anyway. I could be wrong.
Certainly purchased some. But in that way no more culpable for sending those kids down mine shafts than the end user.
RE depopulation, I would say by increasing life expectancy and standard of education in "developing" nations. Sounds much nicer.
Looks like we are on track to naturally top out population wise anyway.

Nice colonial view of the world. They are to blame, not the consumption in the first world then? Interesting he forgets to mention inequality and poverty are the biggest drivers on population growth. Its not about contracetion access, they are choosing to have children, mainly because they have f##k all.

I'd suggest people watch the new episode of Last week tonight with John Oliver (it's on YouTube). It's about the next pandemic, or rather the possibility of it and there is a piece about how we are encroaching on natural habitats and increasing the risk of diseases jumping across species.
When you think about it then it does make sense and making inroads on protecting the environment might lessen those chances of us getting whatever lethal pathogen is waiting in pigs, bats, monkeys or others crossing over.

No idea I don't listen to unqualified charlatans views on climate change. I find scientists a better gauge. Mr Gates seems to have an opinion on everything. Unless it's IT or scaling a corporation I'm not sure why anyone listens to him to be honest. Enormous hypocrite and a very shady character. Anyone who is happy to to work alongside and befriend a convicted child sex offender is not a good person and their views should be taken with a large dollop of salt

When child mortality falls so does birth-rate. This has happened in every country across the globe regardless of culture, religion or any other factor.
Poor people need someone to look after them in their old age same as everyone if 50% of your offspring won't see their 5th birthday you tend to spread the risk and have a few more.
Where do the views of Mr. Gates diverge from scientific consensus?
Oh give it a rest with the child abuse angle, Epstein fooled many rich people, Gates never met him other than in New York in several business meetings all minuted about his philanthropic work, he never went to a party or the island etc. There is no suggestion that the two were ever "friends" or that they even did any business together. Yes but the thread is about whether Climate Change is a bigger problem to solve - I would agree with that wouldn't you? And in the long run it is the problem that will make permanent irreversible changes for the whole planet. Whether you argue with Bill Gates or not we have a massive job on our hands don't we?
