Why don't the rest of the squad have to isolate? Appreciate testing happens but doesn't the common man still have to isolate even after a negative test?

No sport would be able to go ahead if that was the case. If they are in their own bubble I would guess the risk to anyone outside that would be pretty minimal anyway

So the same rules should apply to everybody then surely. Say for example a work colleague tests positive but I test negative then I should be allowed to continue working?

Not anymore, guidance changed to receive a PCR test to confirm any possible positive tests. Historically, those classed as close contacts would have to isolate. Close contact is defined as a person who has spent 1 minute within 1 metre or 15 minutes within 2 metres of a person up to 48 hours prior to them either showing symptoms or receiving a positive test.

If you have stuck to the rules re mask wearing and social distancing, I don’t think you have to isolate after an outbreak in a work place do you?

Hugely different situation with a football squad to the average worker though, they will be tested multiple times every week and sticking to their own bubble

I don't know, there's so many rules now. I know if we had an outbreak at work we'd shut the place for two weeks for deep cleaning and isolation purposes, on sick pay or use holidays up.

Southgate has already said this is not because of what happened on the pitch. Make of that what you will.
