The song doesn’t mention any country, or even kingdom, or even talk about them. It’s just about a particular bloke, and a particular deity. Two fairytales if you will.

What about them, they can have their own chants, they can sing whatever they want, why should that have anything to do with anyone supporting god, the King or anyone they see fit. They don’t have to join in, the fact the vast majority did says something though.
