Booing the Ramadan drinks break

Agreed, it's a personal choice to fast and individuals can choose not to. However drinks breaks are commonplace in sports anyway, and I can't see why there's any issue with having a drinks break in the name of allowing athletes who haven't taken onboard any fluids since dawn to do so, religion aside.
Only for extreme heat not in normal circumstances, it was about 8C

Muslims are expected to fast unless it would impact their health to do so - by continuing to train and play while fasting will impact their health, or they wouldn't be wanting to have a break during play
Intermittent fasting doesn't negatively impact your health, unless your health is already compromised ie prior diagnosis of diabetes. Muslims who work labour jobs in the middle east, South Asia, fast in the searing heat, and have done so for centuries, with little to no negative impact on their health. This alone is not a valid reason to not fast.

The reason for the break in play is literally to break their fast, not for physical exhaustion or any literal need for a break.

I was in the west stand lower and didn’t hear any booing? A few quizzical looks as people didn’t realise what was going on and thought we’d gone American with a time out.

Not in fooball. When did they announce it was a Ramadan break? As many in the ground did t have a clue. No booing in North West corner.
No logical reason why there can't be drink breaks in football too. Anyhow, i doubt it was a Ramadan break as sunset was before 8pm.

I heard someone in the rows behind me refer to it as a P*** break while the booing was going on. If I knew who it was I’d have reported it there and then. I’ve renewed my season ticket for next season but it’s things like this that would make me think twice in future.

I have just got back to pub now and this is first time I have heard about a Ramadan drinks break. There was a very small number booing near me but they were whinging about the fact there was no one injured so why the stoppage. So I would say the Ramadan break was not known by many fans. So maybe some were not being disrespectful.

Come on it’s happened in every televised game for the past week 😠

Which I have not watched. Don't you ever go out. And not trying to be disrespectful here but I saw on TV that it was/is Ramadan but have no idea when it started or ended. Have not known since my sister and her husband divorced.
Not religious in any way.

Some absolute tripe spoken in the stands tonight and also on this thread too, we have a lot of racist Neanderthals in our fan base and it’s so disappointing and depressing. I hope these ‘people’ do not breed and pass down their behaviour and morales to any children.

fasting breaks

well hidden on Sky Sports ... I am out of the UK for a few months. I saw drinks being taken midway in the first half last week on premiership games. So looked up why.

I assume it had been mentioned in the UK.

But, yes, the clubs should explain why. But booing? Come on. No excuse.

I found the booing tonight for the drinks break completely disgusting, the club have failed to act over fans booing the taking of the knee and now the knuckle draggers feel emboldened because of this.

The club need to act now.

It reflects incredibly poorly on the club and the area that this is accepted.
