If that is us done, he is the No9, Rogers is the 10 and we go with Forss, McGree, Jones and Silvera covering the wide positions then we have really gone backwards.

Surely it can't be?
 
This guy can play on the right as well. It's good to have a goalscorer in one of the wide positions and we know that Carrick favours this so I imagine he will get games there and that the club will be looking for another striker. Whether they get one remains to be seen.

Common sense would suggest not, but this is Boro and recruitment that we are talking about. 🤔

It's more that the Chuba money has gone on latte lath, an unproven Championship or unproven good level forward, and Archer (who would have got more than 20 in a full season) has been swapped for Rogers who has 2 goals in 34 championship appearances. If you think of it like goals per year, and the two out are replaced by the two in, then those two need to get 50 goals, which has to be seen as unlikely.

I'm usually very optimistic, but I'm a bit disheartened at the minute. I hope they all prove me wrong, but even if they do that we will still need to get some good loans and other transfers in, as we need a couple more key players and a couple more for squad depth.

The thing is Andy there pretty much is squad depth. There is just not nearly enough quality.

4x CM (inc Payero and Barlaser)
2x LW (McGree & Silvera)
2x No10 (Rogers, Gilbert)
2x RW (Forss, Jones)
3x CF (LL, Crooks, Coburn)

That is 25 players already. That is without academy players emerging.
If more come in, then some will leave.

I hope he gets off to a fast start and immediately gets that connection with the fans. I took from the training video that he has a big beaming smile and it could light up the riverside!
