Boro's number 9 - Latte Lath

It's more that the Chuba money has gone on latte lath, an unproven Championship or unproven good level forward, and Archer (who would have got more than 20 in a full season) has been swapped for Rogers who has 2 goals in 34 championship appearances. If you think of it like goals per year, and the two out are replaced by the two in, then those two need to get 50 goals, which has to be seen as unlikely.

I'm usually very optimistic, but I'm a bit disheartened at the minute. I hope they all prove me wrong, but even if they do that we will still need to get some good loans and other transfers in, as we need a couple more key players and a couple more for squad depth.
We will get a loan or two I am sure.

I don't think those two need to get 50 goals between them. We scored enough last season to go up automatically yet didn't. There are many ways to skin the promotion cat. Being more solid at the back is clearly a must and you have to assume that engel is better defensively than Giles. Spread the goals a bit is usually more sustainable than having 2 goal scorers.

I would also add that any decent forward will improve their goal tally playing in a Carrick side because of the way we are set up.

It really isn't all doom and gloom lath comes with a reasonable price tag to suggest he will be a good addition. I don't know much about him, but the scouting team seen to think he is worth the cost.

You still need to outscore the opposition though, even those two getting 30 would be well above what we typically get from those two positions. The defence has probably got no better, keeper probably not and Howson's a year older. Hopefully Fry steps up, stays fit and Lenihan has another good season. Paddy will be pretty solid at RB but I know nothing about Engle, other than he's not likely to be as good as Giles going forward, but may be better at the back, like you say. No idea on this though, but should get a fair idea after 10 games. Giles attacking threat more than made up for any slight defensive loss.

Yeah, we should be able to score more, but it leaves us more open too. I prefer it this way though, more interesting. Carrick might adjust style though, you set a style which the team is best suited for or can adapt to. That's why we did so well with AK etc, he had a solid defence, so just set up that way. With an assumed lesser attcking threat this year (pre loans), it might make more sense to cool the attacking off a bit, and just stick on ball retention, we'll see.

Ah I'm not doom and gloom, but it's hard to not be disappointed with what we had and what we've lost. Hopefully can build it back up again.

Getting our two key signings in means we can wait a bit longer and not rush our prem loans now plus we can look at other areas than we may have before.

What about Engel’s?

His goal scoring stats for a fullback apparently are fantastic it’s about 1in 6.5 games.

To the tune of the chorus of Physical by the great Olivia Newton John:-

Boro’s got Latte-Lath, Latte-Lath
I wanna see Latte-Lath
We all love Latte-Lath
Let me hear the Boro Roar, the Boro Roar
Watching Latte-Lath score

Boro’s got Latte-Lath, Latte-Lath
We all love Latte-Lath
Let me hear the Boro Roar, the Boro Roar
Watching Latte-Lath score, Latte-Lath score

repeat…. at will
Have you been on the beer o_O
