Both Sunderland & now Newcastle have hit the owners jackpot

The debt will be written off at some point, when HMRC tells Steve Gibson he either has to collect it or write it off.

But I agree, it's a different world now. There's no way Boro can hope to compete with Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Everton, Spurs, Arsenal, Newcastle, Leicester, Villa, West Ham and a few others. So the target now is promotion and hope to win the mini league of about 8 "just hope to stay in the league" teams.

Right now, if I was Steve Gibson, I'd be more concerned about staying in the Championship. A leaky defence and goal shy attack are hall marks of relegation teams. The fact that there are few teams facing points deductions might save Boro but without that I'd say Boro are more likely going to be in the 3rd tier next season.
Depressing scenario but probably close to reality. Once more we may be dependant to other clubs failings to help us.

I want owners who don’t kill journalists, enable modern day slavery and execute people on a whim. Maybe I’m out of touch but poor strategic decision making pales in significant to the above.
Oh do **** off, you think there is such wonderful moraility in the way football clubs are run?

for every Man City or Chelsea, there are ten Notts Forrests, Porstmouths, and other clubs that foreign ownership has been disastrous in the long term
Give over.
City and Chelsea owners have been fabulous for the fans of their clubs.

You reckon? Take your rose tinted specs off and come back with a cohesive argument. We nearly get 20000 these days, to break this largely reliant on a good away following as our walk up numbers are poor.

We lose significant sums of money every season adding to the £120 million plus debt. I can’t see many plus points for anyone to buy us
Don't we make about £6 million from ticket sales and stadium stuff and £120 million for being in the PL?

No need for that.

He's a poster, not a football owner.

Newcastle's new owners are scum, and there's nothing wrong with recognising that.

Do **** off if you're happy to endorse torture and murder if it means you can get a player who's better at kicking a ball.

Summat like that (y)
Winning the FA Cup has to be our next target!
Next year!
It all looks pretty crap at the minute though:(

Pipe down you tool.
No I won’t pipe down and I’m not a tool either.
People are all too willing to “see the light” re Warnock or managers in general, but Gibson can not be criticised.
He is the one consistent factor since 2006, not just the bit between 93 and 06.
It is just fine to point that out.

I’m not Gibbos biggest fan as my initial comment implies. You’re a tool as you can’t converse like an adult.

Give over. indeedido has forensically examined the clubs accounts and in clear terms alerted all on here to the perilous state the clubs finances are.

Frankly your post is not only insulting but inaccurate. He is the one person to spell out the financial incompetence that has been going on for years. You owe him an apology.

That's not what you did though.

You told him to **** off because he had an issue with a fascist, murderous regime taking over Newcastle.

No, he doesn't?

He told him to **** off for making a comment about another club's new owner.

He's perfectly entitled to bite back at insults, if anything, he's the one that's owed an apology.

He told me to f**k off so I called him a tool. Pretty fair retort in my book. Absolutely no need to apologise on my behalf.

He sounds like he has an axe to grind with Gibbos handing of the club which is fair enough. I feel his decision making leaves a lot to be desired but I’d take him every day of the week over most of the PL owners, especially Newcastle’s. 👍👍

Ok look at this then that helps explain the situation. If Gibbo wanted the money back - over £120 million- we don’t have the assets to cover it - even if we sold every member of the playing staff. Might at a pinch cover a quarter of it.

So £80 million owing, if we suddenly started making profits- which we don’t- paying say £2 million a year it would take 40 years to pay it back.

So I would put to you Gibbo is far from the saviour these days- he’s the problem not the solution through gross financial mismanagement.

I’m not defending Gibson as I’ve explained several times Nosmo. I’m saying I’d prefer him to a murderous owner. My point was, and remains that the Saudi Prince should not be an owner in English football. You points about Gibbo, whilst it may be valid (depending on what he does with that debt) are not comparable to the Saudis.

I suspect by January Aramco will be announced as new commercial partners of Newcastle. Their name will be on kit, around St James' and probably even sponsor the training ground. That alone could probably see Newcastle spend £200 million on player in January.
It's a shame Dewhurst the butchers have gone out of business - they'd be the ideal kit sponsor.
