Bouncer in Middlesbrough

Not sure if anyone has seen this on social media but it's disgusting, I know some of these lads put up with some crap but to pick up a young lad and drop him on his neck, could of killed him!! Looks like one of the bars opposite the empire.

It doesn’t surprise me at all with it being The Empire, the bouncers have always been over the top ****. in there - it’s just usually not recorded as clearly as this one has.

Used to go all the time when I was in uni about 10 years ago, wouldn’t step foot in there now.

I've not see it, but the OP suggests it wasn't the Empire but a bar opposite it ( Pig Iron or Central most probably).

I agree. I remember being in the queue for the empire probably in the mid 2000's. Bouncer just randomly turned to me and said "you're not coming in". I think he was probably hoping I would react and he could start a fight. "No problem", I replied and I've never been back to the Empire.

Totally going against this thread, but I remember back in the day going up to the Maddison, got to the top of the stairs me mate slipped (he was smashed to be fair) bouncer told us no chance of coming in now, unless we go and grab some food from McDonald’s and come back in 20 minutes , great advice so we did and 20 minutes later back to the top of the stairs same bouncer “now lads, enjoy your night “ cracking night celebrating mates 21st 👍🏻🍻

The Madison was the only place to go after Blaises closed around 92ish. I have to say that the bouncers were always sound in there. But then again, the tunes were totally abysmal. Ying and yang.
The Arena was ok, too.
Worst places for roid heads on the doors was the mall, the kirk, then later the theatre/empire; worst of all - macmillans/tall trees

Roid heads picking on kids. It was always the same.
I started going out in the early 90s. You would have the decent lads who it was obvious were doing it for the money. For every one of those you would get 10 roid head bullies in it for the chew.

In all the years I worked doors this was pretty much true. Though I think the percentage was closer to 50/50. There were a lot of decent lads who just wanted to make sure that people had a good night before they picked up their £20 or £30 at the end of the night... a good chunk of which would go in the kebab shop or curry house on the way home .... I was always ravenous at 3 a.m.

Did you work the doors in Boro ?

What with the doors and the music business, you must have a few stories...
Ever considered writing a book about it?

On the Doors, I'd be hard pressed to top "Bouncer".

On the music industry, I do have great stories, but I have no conviction at all that people would want to read them.
I'm not even sure I have the energy to write them ... come to that, my brain was so "influenced" during that era, I can't be tooc ertain of the memories.
And, at the end of the day, I hated far too many of the poeple for it to be healthy to re-visit, even if I did also meet some of th most wonderful friends.

So yeah, I've considered it, but not got past that .... yet. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah it’s definitely the Empire, can tell by the railings.

The other bouncer needs to be looked into as well as he watches it happen but doesn’t intervene.
