BRAVERMAN SACKED

Cleverley. Never was there a better case of reverse normative determinism.

Over-privileged, privately educated thick as mince spoiled brat who qualified as the person to complain to if you run out of towels.

Cleverly was born on 4 September 1969 in Lewisham, London, to James Philip and Evelyn Suna Cleverly.[2] His father is British and worked as a surveyor and his mother worked as a midwife and is from Sierra Leone.[3] He was privately educated at Riverston School and Colfe's School, both in Lee, London. Cleverly then trained in the army, but his training was cut short by a leg injury in 1989. He went on to gain a Bachelor of Arts degree in hospitality management studies from Ealing College of Higher Education (now University of West London) in 1991.

Think the example given was Nicky Morgan who was already a peer. It's not that uncommon, plenty of lords have served as ministers, usually junior ones though.

What takes the **** even more is appointing someone to the lords just so you can give them a job.

Needless to say Boris has already set that example when he did it for his chum Zac Goldsmith immediately after Goldsmith lost his seat. Democracy eh?
I remember when Lynda Chalker, Minister of State for Overseas Development, lost her seat in Wallasey in the 1992 election. Her replacement in that office? Baroness Chalker of Wallasey. I mean, the appointment takes the ****, the title throws the **** back in the electorate’s face.

Not that this is a scandal belonging to one party. The last parallel I can remember as a cabinet appointment similarly out of left field to bring back a blast from the past who wasn’t even in the Lords was when Brown appointed Mandelson to his first Cabinet. Probably for quite similar party management reasons too.
