Brexit benefits part 3453

I think this is a slaient point. which, wierdly helps both arguemnts. Of course not all costs are due to brexit, the world has changed quite a buit since 2016. Global pandemics, a European war and subsequent energy price hikes have affacted things. This helps the brexit defenders of course. Because they use these events to hide from the effects of brexit. The point is brexit is exaccerbating all of the porblems we have at the moment. The ridiculous way the UK voted to place eocnomic sanction on itself has made any financial crisis worse. It's like an immune disorder for the economy. Yes it'll still be hit with global financial hits, but it's made it much harder to keep with them. Made us more likely to get "sick"

"Not all the costs are down to Brexit as we would have had to bring in some of these changes for non-EU imports but it will make all food and drink more expensive for consumers and even what would have been affected even more expensive."

How true is this?
UK is bringing in checks on EU imports because it already checks non-EU imports but is not allowed to favour some imports over others under WTO rules, hence the coming EU import checks.
If UK was not checking imports from anywhere then it would not be favouring anyone so no checks on EU or non-EU would be required to fulfil WTO rules.
That would be Reece-Mogg's ideal: rotting meat, dangerous electrical goods, hazardous chemicals and pharmaceuticals, animal diseases all circulating freely, all produced using slave labour.

It will affect all imports of each type as they are all going to be tied up in the same structure.

The retail and associated industries rely a lot on JIT and groupage transportation, especially once items arrive in the UK.

Biosecurity was brought up as a priority further up the thread. There's now going to be a 22 miles gap between trucks arriving and the inspection facility. As it stands, they've not put it into legislation that hauliers have to report to that facility once the rules change.
