For Brighton you are missing the point re expectation. If they expected to win every home game, finish top six and scores goals galore with Maupay and Welbeck up front then you might think 8/10 reasonable for where they did end up.

No. If they held those expectations then the season would be about 4/10

If you've had a poor home record and sat through boring games at home with few goals then it's hardly 9/10 stuff.
He'd have probably rather got a few entertaining games, a decent cup run and finished 12th

Yes, fans care more about seeing their team play well, win and score each week than they do about what division they're in.

You know what division you're in at the start of the season. Rarely does anyone rate the season after promotion as good as the season when you get promoted, though you inevitably finish higher in the pyramid overall.

were they asked to review the season or their expectations vs final league position? the latter is 10/10 but for the article it seems to be their season. By sheer virtue of saying "out of ten" you are implying they got a 100% score, and they didnt. Otherwise a newly promoted team where you expected to get relegated and come 16th could say 10/10 when again, it clearly isn't. 8/10 is probably generous to be honest. Liverpool didn't have a 10/10 season in the premier league, City won it and they didn't. Both had amazing seasons with some class moments but everything cant be 10/10 all the time because it dilutes what 10/10 means.
