Buying players the manager doesn’t want and won’t pick surely it’s madness?

Some will say they are development players. That for me is nonsense if your paying circa £5 million for them.

We are not Brentford, just can’t realistically say we are adopting that model and try and copy it.

I don’t get why Forss would have agreed to come if he was told he was a ‘development’ player? Surely he’d have sat it out and developed at Brentford instead? And presumably you don’t sign for a club unless you meet the manager and they tell you how you fit in?

Something doesn’t add up.

Something definitely doesn't.

But Wilders track record with forwards is awful, so........🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

It's bizarre. Can't decide if it's just a case of Wilder and the club not being aligned with regards to recruitment policy, Wilder sulking because he didn't get the strikers he wanted, or a case of both.

I genuinely think he’s just trying to cover his own back. He wants to go but had been absolutely woeful, so he’s banging on about his past record and is happy to blame it on recruitment.

KS was already at the club when Wilder signed. He must have been made aware of what the working arrangement was going to be.

I reall don't get how anyone can look at our situation and think Wilders in the right. His decision making with forwards is atrocious.

Imagine this summer he doesn't freeze Akpom out of the squad. Akpom gets a full pre-season and maybe doesn't miss 2 months injured. Who knows if it'd have made a difference to our fortunes. He had a great game against Sheff Utd.

Totally agree about Forss.

It would make more sense in future sale/contract negotiations to say that a PL club kept him as back-up over 2/3 years, as that would carry more weight than 'Do you want a guy who couldn't get a game at a team digging their way down to League One?'

Wilder hasn’t a brilliant record for signing strikers. Akpom was not part of his plans, his inclusion in the first team squad was forced on the manager.

But signing Hoppe, who is an international footballer but yet can’t make the bench is madness for both the club and the player.

The goalkeeper looks like he is always going to be picked even if the understudy is playing better.

Lets be honest. When Hoppe leaves on a free and plays for another championship club he's bound to be fantastic isn't he. It's typical. And then we'll all think it was obvious all along. Oh yeah, that guy who scored a hattrick in Bundesliga, wonder why we didn't try using him.

As soon as I saw the line up today I said to my son that it looked like a resignation letter, orna challenge to Gibson to sack him. I just think he has checked out. He isn't getting a tune out of anyone.

This business of not picking players bought in this summer is crazy. You are meant to be one of the best managers outside the Premier League - quit your posturing and manage. Good managers motivate and find a way. Wilder needs to put on his big boy pants or leave.
