I think you have got your wires crossed.
Nah.To play devil's advocate, by last summer Scott had more championship appearances than Hackney has for us now, scored more championship goals than Hackney has now, while being 2 years younger than Hackney is now.
I'm biased towards Hackney of course, but a neutral might take this as evidence that Scott was a better prospect than Hackney.
Nah.
Hackney's played for both England and Scotland
Scott hasn't!
So there!
Double it.Word coming out of London - Boro midfielder Hayden Hackney close to an £18m move to West Ham.
No official confirmation from either club.
Luke Young was the famous example on here.Football fans love the idea of the secret "done deal" but I can't recall one ever really happening.
It's never come to light later that a secret deal had been done, and in an industry that's incapable of keeping secrets, I don't believe it happens and we don't find out about it
When clubs do deals, they announce them
It’s more just acceptance I think. We’re a club who sells our best players when we get good bids for them. It’s what we are now, that’s been clear for years. So people like to talk about fees in that knowledge. For some reason a great number of our supporters seem desperate to see our players go. The other thread about how much we’ll get for Lathe in the summer is indicative of that mindset.
You may be right but, I think if you give a bloke from Teesside a bag of gold, they’d whinge about how heavy it was. I just think we can be a tad defeatist. It’s more just acceptance I think. I am certain we’ll make at least 1 big sale this summer. I’d take £18m if offered for Hackney. More than happy for him to stay though.
It’s who we have always been and will probably always be the case. Well I suppose it depends whether you see selling him as “defeat”. You could flip it and view it as yet another big success for our academy, with a sizeable fee incoming. You may be right but, I think if you give a bloke from Teesside a bag of gold, they’d whinge about how heavy it was. Opinions make the game we all love, you make a good point, I know it’s a pipe dream but I’d love to see us competing or at least giving anyone a game with a team of ‘our’ players.Well I suppose it depends whether you see selling him as “defeat”. In truth he went off the boil before his injury. I’ve no doubt at all he’ll get back to where he was if he stays, but whose to say if he’ll get any better than that? Have we got a Jude Bellingham on our hands? I’m really not sure about that tbh.
Keeping him, if offered £18m+, is as much a gamble as selling him. Just my opinion of course.
Adam Wharton and Alex Scott both moved for 18 mill +.£18 million would be nice, I can't see us getting that mind. Maybe with add ons eventually.
How about prefer not to have million pound flops and not lose all our best assets? It’s going to happen all summer.
I’d much prefer this than to be stuck with multimillion pound flops like George Saville and Ashley Fletcher.
There it isMichael Carrick first signing as west ham manager
Deserves a fresh thread that one. There it is

Carrick is negotiating a contract extension as we speak. In his words he loves it here. There it is
