Carling Cup Celebration 29th Feb at Boro Town Hall

Downing (didn't get on)
Maccarone (didn't get on)
Nemeth (wasn't even in the squad)

**** me! Wasn't Christie available for the reunion?!

How on earth haven't they managed to get McClaren, Schwarzer, Mills on board? All UK based. Even Riggot to boost the numbers!

A celebration of the biggest success in our club's history and this is the turn out. We are absolute tinpot at times.

think we should wait and see who turns up tonight and then the comments will be justified . Clearly the lack of forward info about the attendees is because its sold out and money is in the bank .... if sales were slow then names would be trickled out to get sales ... Hope the evening goes well but its gonna take some work ......

I agree to an extent. I suppose you could argue that Nemeth and Downing played some part in it, as I'd imagine they both probably played in the some of the games, but I don't remember either of them scoring (could be wrong of course). They're not going to be able to say much aside from stating the obvious, that it was a great time to be at the club etc. I guess for some though it will probably be nice just having them there and seeing them reunited with their former team-mates.

Having the current England manager there is a pretty big draw, and I must say full respect to Southgate for making the effort.

I feel McClaren and Gibson should also be there but in fairness Gibson never really attends these sorts of events.

Rumours I'd heard when it was announced were that the absentees would be dependant on schedule. McClaren had a game with United last night and so would likely not be here because of that. Mendi has TV commitments, Schwarzer and Mills are on bad terms with the club, Doriva has international duties and Bolo was a doubt because of tv commitments, obviously they've managed to get him to come now.

Gibbo would be a draw, but he went to the 1986 thing so probably wouldn't do another public appearance, especially given how things are between fans and club at the moment

Played 32 matches in the Premier League for us in that season and in the first 4 Cup matches, he definitely played a part.

It's surely a celebration of the full cup run, not just the final.
Sorry, didn’t realise I’d typed that last night and then checked it and realised he was still part of the team.

Another MFC Sh1tshow. I was gutted I couldn't attend, I coach on a Thursday night and didn't want to cancel a session for myself to attend a social event.
I'm glad I never now because I would have been raging.

Its an absolute con. £75 a ticket i paid, on the advert that Juninho and Southgate will be thee. Juninho was the one everyone wanted to see, Southgate a close 2nd i suppose. I emailed the townhall whinging and got the standard reply of the guest line-up was subject to change, but they would have been better of cancelling the thing and rearranging, i get tonight is the exact date of the cup final but i guarantee everyone going would have rather it be rearranged to a date where more members of the squad could be there.

Mark Schwarzer - No

Nemeth wasn't even in the squad for the cup final.

I paid £150 for two tickets, i rushed to get tickets and been excited to go since i got the tickets and now i personally know of 6 people who have since sold their tickets at a loss.
Absolute joke.

Can't help but feel Juninho was never going to be there. If they had this line-up concrete, no way in this world would they have been able to sell tickets for what they have, you'd be talking £35-50 MAX.

This is the picture they used to advertise the event... Adapted on twitter to show who is actually there.

This is very sad and appalling from our club. Christie got the ball rolling with that goal against Brighton. Given our treatment of him on the day of the final, he should have surely been one of the first names on the list for this event.

Why can't our club get the basics right?

As I said earlier, the organisation and communication around this has been appalling. They should be giving fans partial refunds, if I’d paid for the VIP package I’d be absolutely furious.

I’m going and looking forward to it but I can’t deny juno was the big draw but not the only one. I’ll agree though the PR around this has been a total shambles.

Seeing Christie all but say screw you asking me as a last resort shows the clubs relations with our ex players isn’t great either.

Did someone say gibbo won’t be there ?
