Monk’s assistant Pep Clotet went on his own to Oxford.. rejoined him at Birmingham and is currently head coach at BresciaDon't know about Monk, but I'm pretty sure Pulis brought his own Assistant Manager in
The two week hold up? It took longer to get Karanka in place with Hignett as his assistant. No way was there a 2 week hold up to get Woodgate in place. He's been unemployed.
Looks clear that he couldn't get the backroom team he wanted. So much for the contacts!
I don't really know how much involvement a manager needs from the coaches. I wouldn't trust Woodgate to be manager, or provide advice, but if he can follow Carrick's instructions to get the team doing whatever is needed in training then there's probably nothing to be worried about.
Just seems really underwhelming. Would probably have been better to have not mentioned Woodgate in the article and just said Carrick's backroom staff will be x, y & z as a single announcement when it was finalised. Just Woodgate's name makes it sound like he's a big part of things.
Leo's job doesn't really exist does it. Definitely jobs for the boys but at least I get the sentiment with that one.
Just from transfermerkt.. defo saw his a assistant to Pulis in his last season at least.I like the appointment, much better than the rumoured Alex Bruce...
...but Woodgate wasn't assistant under Monk (James Beattie was). Pulis brought Woody in as a U18 coach.
Pulis brought Dave Kemp and then Sam Ellis in as his assistants, although Woody might have been pitch side towards the end...
and Agnew's assistant was Joe Jordan.
NooooooooooooooooooooooProbably Downing
Hang on a sec. People are criticizing gibson for not talking. Now we hear he is not only talking, but talking big. What's he said?Haven’t you realised by now this is Gibsons stock play - talk really big then deliver average.
Not so sure about that - Carrick announced as Head Coach, thus fitting in with the new structure at the club.Well ......let's see. Didn't do too bad at Bournemouth, he's not here as manager and a big #2 is still to be announced.
Carrick is the manager, it's his team. If everything goes to sh*t, he carries the can - not Woodgate.
Interesting to see how this goes
Gary Neville will never return to coaching. And I can’t imagine Phil giving his management job in Miami to move to Middlesbrough.I will go with carrick bringing in an assistant from man utd days. Someone he played with. One of the nevilles maybe?
Woody is a strange one. Not good for his mental health as im sure if it goes wrong he will be a scapegoat.
Really? All I remember of Carrick was him playing 5 yard passes sideways and backwards. The best player to manage us since Robbo. I think he will do an excellent job for us. Its gonna take a bit of time but I expect to see a much more positive forward passing midfield
Oh dearReally? All I remember of Carrick was him playing 5 yard passes sideways and backwards.

That’s an outrageous thing to say. He would walk into pretty much any team around at the moment except possibly Man City where, ironically, the Premier League player closest to him in style currently plays in his position.Really? So you aren’t Sir Alex then.Really? All I remember of Carrick was him playing 5 yard passes sideways and backwards.

Why is it outrageous? It's the memory I have of seeing him play that's all. I hope we do see less off the constant side, side, back and hoof. That’s an outrageous thing to say.
