Carrick Manager of the Season

Tell you the truth, I’m happy to see them get the opportunity and hope one of the 2 (or 3) come good.

Remember we invested a lot in Latte Lath just a few months ago and Coburn is a great prospect. Totally different attributes but I have faith one of them can become a good player at this level, or at least I’d like to see them get the opportunity.

We only play with one striker, so there’s only space for one in the team. Buying or loaning someone now would just stunt the development of two promising young players imho, it’s not like we’re 2nd in the league.

But josh is injured though that’s the issue.

For me, this season has been a right off due to all the injuries we have suffered. Why pay OTT for a striker when we can wait until the summer and hopefully go again in the new season.

If we reach the playoffs, it will be a bonus but I think we have given ourselves a big ask with our poor start and injuries.

But won’t we then be needing to replace the others that may well have left by then.

It’s the hope that kills
Who do you think will leave in the summer other than those who are out of contract?

I would argue that the majority of the team will still be with us

Dieng - I can't see him going anywhere.
Glover - Playing well and will still be at the club.
Jamie Jones - Could see him leaving and Sol Brynn playing more of a part in the squad.
Engel - Will still be here
Fry - I think he will still be here
VDB - Definetly
Clarke - I would let go
Lenihan - Think he would want first team football, it will be him or Fry
McNair - Out of contract and will leave
Bangura - Will still be here.
Ayling - I could see us putting an offer in for him
Smith - I like Smith but how much longer can he keep going
Dijksteel - - I think he will go

Thomas - Back to his parent club

Greenwood - Return to Leeds
McGree - Not sure if he will look to get away, I hope not
Azaz - Will still be here
Hackney - Will be sold
Howson - Squad member
Barlaser - Will still be here
Crooks - ??
O'Brien - Think he will return to parent club but would love a cheeky little bid.
Jones - Will still be at the club

Latt Lathe - Still at the club
Hoppe - Will be gone
Silvera - Squad player
Gilbert - I have a feeling he will be gone.
Coburn - Still at the club
Forss - Still at the club

We haven’t sold McGree or Jones have we?!
You can't say either have been more productive than Rodgers. One has been really good when he is fit and the team changes the way it plays and one has has hardly played .
I'm not moaning about the club just saying we have to accept the way things are now.

I think argument with Rogers is why did we have to sell him now? Why was it so important that he have to be offloaded 6 months into his contract? In saying that he was a good option off the bench although he was beginning to show up a lot on away performances but was he a clear starter ahead of McGree, Forss or perhaps Latte?

We got shot now because we couldn’t believe anyone was that daft to pay that kind of money for him.

I once bought a VW Golf from the sales at Maltby that was one of a fleet of three cars. I drove it to the VW garage that used to be near Park End to look at a scratch on the door handle and they offered me a grand more for it. I took the money, drove back to the sales and bought one of the other two.

Easiest money I’ve ever made and the Boro must be thinking the same about Rogers. He’s nowhere near the finished article and it’s a huge gamble for Villa. If he improves and they later sell him, we make again.

I agree with this. Josh has done well and I don't think we've seen much of lath who I think cost a fair whack. Some people are transfer addicts.

It’s different with other positions because the other 3 in the front 4 can interchange, full backs can play further forward etc.

The number 9’s have to play number 9, and you can’t play them both at once.

Latte Lath cost £5m, we are not in the business of writing that off without giving him a chance first (though some posters are).

I know what you mean but he’ll be recovered soon.

I’ve never liked this, ‘a player’s out for 2 months so we’d better sign someone for cover on a 3 year deal’. You just end up with a millstone of a player or panic and overpay someone who will end up 3rd choice. Premier League teams do it all the time. It’s such short term thinking.

A loan player would be different, and we’re probably a striker light all things considered but especially with the amount of games in the Champo, just play a kid there for a few weeks.

Hackney, mcgree will be gone vdb we will struggle to keep as well. Keep selling our best players every window and we will always be be one season or one window away

I'm sure Carrick will get a tune out of the squad, but given his potential and the ability that he's already displayed then I'd hope the club give him the tools to get us promoted and we don't look back on his tenure and wonder what could have been.
I really hope we have a plan in place for next season that means we are ready to go from the off and we won't be playing catchup again.
I’m expecting we will buy well in the summer, hopefully early and we have a completed squad ready to go for it from the first game. I also hope we play without the ********* tactics and diving on display in that anti-football league. I would argue that Carrick is already showing he can get a tune out of our threadbare available list

On the subject of Forss up front, he has a real good knack of being in the right place at the right time. He reminds me of Stuani and I think he is more than capable of doing a good job as a striker. Get him in and around Coburn/Latte Lath and I think he scores plenty.

Players who have more than one position are invaluable across a season.

Yours sincerely

Pep

I honestly can't see VDB leaving, it would be unfair to hold Hackney back and I don't think McGree's done enough for a move to the PL and at best would go to another Championship club.

I'm not bothered about players leaving as long as we don't leave Carrick short of the quality he needs.
The lad is clearly a talented coach and it'd be shameful if we didn't give him the best chance of getting us promoted before he inevitably moves on to better things.
I really hope that we are planning ahead under this new model and we don't get caught on the hop if big bids come in for the likes of Hackney, McGree or VdB.
