Central Park Restaurant

Open Jar Seaton Carew does a banging hotshot parmo, but the portion size of their chips leaves a lot to be desired.

Also, poor choice of beer

Never been for quite a few years, the mrs has just booked it for Friday night..... I used to love it, but someone as told me its gone downhill lately!!! Anybody been there lately???
Will you let us know what it was like - I don't eat them regularly but I was fancying a parmo the other week and the wife suggested we go here. We have some great memories of eating here as a family.

When my sons were still at school we would go to Central Park often because they both liked the menu. I remember being in there one tea time and Jamie Pollock was sitting eating a meal with another bloke. When I pointed him out my eldest son, aged about 9 at the time, asked if he could go and get his autograph and went to get up to approach him. I stopped him from doing this because he was eating and said he could go and see him when he was finished. My wife asked if it was another player he was sitting with but the other guy was sitting at an angle and I couldn't see him.

Halfway through our meal, Pollock got up to leave and my son thinking he was going to miss an opportunity asked if he could go and see. Pollock and his companion were at the till paying when my son approached and asked for his autograph. At that point I immediately recognised the other guy, it was Neil Cox, the first player we broke the £1 million transfer fee mark for, and tells the wife who it was. Cox had literally been at the club days and hadn't kicked a ball for us yet.

Pollock made a fuss of my son, wrote him a message on a napkin and went to hand it to Neil Cox. My son grabs the napkin and says "That's mine," snatches the napkin away from Cox and returns to our table. Pollock lets out a huge laugh and Cox didn't know what to do. My son was gutted when I told him who it was and wanted to go after them. As Pollock went down the side street to get into his car, he tapped on the window at my son, waived with a big daft grin on his face and Cox had a half smile on his face. I got the feeling that Pollock couldn't wait to get into training the next day to tell everyone about how the kids didn't want the million pound signing autograph. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I'm going to sound like a right nob here but I just dont enjoy the town centre area now. Maybe I'm getting old but I much prefer The Bay Horse in Great Broughton or somewhere similar. I just find the atmosphere much more reaxed.

Mate of mine used to work there, a lot of the dishes are pre-prepared and zinged in the microwave but the specials, pizzas and parmo are all fresh.

Might be different now, this was about 10 years ago.
Absolute rubbish I'm afraid. Only things precooked are lasagne, Ribs & Wings which would be too long to prepare, cook and serve. These are reheated in rationale ovens(NOT microwave)to a specific temperature.
