Championship start in July and halts after 12 November

The way I read it is that there is going to be league calendar going on while the knock out stages of the world cup are also taking place. So the WC final is on Sunday 18th Dec, and Boro could feasibly be playing a regular league game the day before on Sat 17th.

It's good to see the World Cup moving to new countries. I wasn't happy when it went to USA at the time but it is a global competition and the hosting of it shouldn't be stitched up by the old guard nations.

Also, being a global competition it shouldn't be held just to suit the timetable of the clubs of Europe.

The use and abuse of labour has been a major problem for me, all the same.

Should just play as normal and clubs get their players back as the tournament progresses. Could be a bit of a leveller as the bigger clubs would be disadvantaged and is only similar to what happens during the African Nations Cup

Wouldnt that be refreshing. Imagine the big PL clubs voting to level up the competition!

It seems like such a f*cking hassle for a world Cup. I'm all for everyone having the right to host it.

Yet completely changing the footballing calender to give it to a god awful nation with absolutely no footballing Heritage is just shocking. I simply can't see where they sat around a table and thought 'this is a good idea' 😕

That doesn't even include the 'social' side of fans traveling to these tournaments. Everything from hotels / flights and 'what to do through the day' is a nightmare. I know English are larger louts but it's very much part of treating it as a footballing holiday. I have been out that way a few times with the navy. The only places to drink are hotel bars and restaurants. I'm not sure how they are thinking of catering for everyone.

Absolutely nothing appeals to me about this world Cup. That's without going into the human rights issues.
