Chubas latest post on his socials

He is so much more than goalscorer - and that is very rare.
I really could see him, Archer and Forss scoring at least 50 next season between them.
And if supported on loan by Ramsey and Diallo then we would have goals for a top two position.

That would leave a lot of scope to sign a ruthless DM, GK and Defensive quality.

What Akpom does/ MFC does with Akpom, is at the core of everything this window.

100% agree with this. As i posted last season goals win games and defences win championships. Ultimately our downfall was the inability to defend and the goals dried up.

We need to sort the defence out.

Have just watched his reel of goals twice and made some notes. I have forgotten about footy since the Cov game but have been re-impressed after the reel. I hope we offer him a year extension on the understanding if we don't go up and he wants to play Prem or abroad then we accept the right deal at end of next season

5 Penalties
8 Headers - these were not the usual glance in from a corner or power cross, neither were they power headers. Mainly all of them took calculated control and pace decisions to beat keeper
1 one on one , rounded the keeper and slipped in straight about 8yds
3 shots were not power shots or screamers but decent strength needed , all well inside penalty area
5 tap ins or glance ins from inside the 6yd box but most of them he ran into the space before the pass
1 Pearler , best of the season, floated and curled in to back post
1 standout individual vs Sheff Utd, where he took control in box flat footed the defenders with a shimmy fwd and shot strong across goal to back side net
Rest were various mainly shots or cushioned volleys but all impressive

He is great at finding the danger space to receive a ball and has composure to do various finishes.
This is just his finishes though. His build up play all season has been great. How many other chances for others started with a flick or pass from him .

This lad is no one season wonder. He's matured , found the right position , right manager and club and way of playing which brings out the best of what he can do . he then supplied his own belief

The thing is though, he hasn't just had a 'good' season. He has had a once in a lifetime season for many boro fans.

Personally, I think a player like that is worth keeping, rather than flogging for not much more than the cost of George Saville.
Of course he’s worth keeping, and if he desperately wants to stay he will. But how desperate do you think he’ll be to stay with all the offers he’ll get?

I think that's looking at risk without taking into account reward.

The club cannot afford to sell him. Only circumstances a bid should be accepted is if the bloke wants premier League football now. Which there's a high chance he may well do.

Throwing away a nigh on 30 goal striker for a fraction of his worth when we have such a great chance of promotion next year would be idiocy and a complete misunderstanding of risk Vs reward.
What is his worth? I wouldn’t say he should he flogged for a fraction of it by any means. Haven’t said that. But if someone coughs up a decent fee for a player with 1 year on his deal, and he wants the move, then that’s all there is to it.

Agreed, but what would a decent fee be?
And what could we do with it?
Not being clever atypical, it is a huge question for Gibson et al.
Well I would hope he is one step ahead with his planning for just that eventuality.

Hopefully Scott will be too, just in case our owner isn’t. Scott seems to be a research man and hopefully he has done his research on our past Performance.

I don't disagree that there will he a price that would trigger us to sell.

What I am surprised by is how many fans seem to think this price could be as ridiculously low as something stupid like 10mill that I'm sure I've seen bandied about.

At the end of the day it will be up to Chuba.

We will get offers, I’m sure of that. Plenty of bottom half prem teams will be interested given his goals last season. They will be reported in the press. If he wants to talk to those clubs he’ll have a quiet word with MC or SG. At that point there’s no point keeping him.

Personally I hope he stays. But if he’s going, it needs sorting well before the season starts.

Well I’ve no idea what the club are thinking but I’d assume they will have a clear idea in their minds of what would be acceptable. And in my opinion, it won’t be a fee that’s out of the reach of the mid-table PL sides who will want Chuba as their 3rd/4th choice striker.

We won’t get the biggest fee that way. But I agree, a gentlemen’s agreement with the player that he can go would be the best thing I think, so we can adapt to life without him.

Well I don’t think it’ll be as low as that. But once you start talking about high teens plus add ons, or a club record sale for a guy who 9-10 months ago we were ready to give away (and not extend his contract), that would be enough for Gibson et al.

What's a decent fee? If we got fifty million for him it would be a poor deal as it would be highly unlikely we would be able to unearth a player that scores so many and creates so much. There is no such thing as a decent fee for a bloke who scored more goals than anyone else has for us for half a century. You have to take the gamble of possibly losing a fee of 10 to 20 million to get the potential gain of 100 odd million. To throw away that chance for pocket money would be idiotic.

£50m would be a very good deal SJB, but we won’t get it or anything like it.
£10m would be an extremely poor deal; I think even at his age with only a year on his contract that £15m would leave us with too little money to solve such a big problem.
But £20m? Wouldn’t be a great deal or a poor one. I could understand people going either way.
As I’ve said from day one this is a huge dilemma.
I hope I’m still thinking we should be singing a much better song about him than the **** one we currently do all next season and beyond.
I love him.

The reality is any deal is poor. We need to keep him. I am still hurting from the club buying the likes of gestede so i dont trust them to reproduce a stunning transfer coup with any fee they receivem

But if he wants away? At 27 with big bucks on the table it’s unlikely he’s going to turn down the PL

Up to Chuba, but I hope he becomes our 'Jamie Vardy' and stays for the next 5 or 6 years and scores lots of goals for us, including taking us to the premier league and hopefully further!

I don't think he would throw his toys out the pram and go on strike if we told him he was staying for 1 more year unless we got £x amount for him.
No. But I’d equally be as surprised if he returned the same form he had this year if we basically but the mockers on his big dream. Then we’re just left with a mediocre striker (as he looked when he joined) whose going to leave on a free, when we could have probably got £15-20m this summer.

My view is that with promotion being worth about 180mill that it would not be worth the risk of letting Chuba go for less than 25mill, anything less than 25mill and we are better off retaining his services to try and get us up next season.

I would really only sell for 25mill if we had firm plans in place on who we were going to get as replacements with deals agreed and Chuba made it clear he was desperate to go.

Otherwise we are going to end up blundering into the market with everyone knowing we have a load of cash we are desperate to spend.

What I'm saying is that my major concern is that we effectively end up swapping Chuba for the next version of Gestede.
