City/Real and Arsenal/Bayern

I have to agree on Real Madrid. Anyone but them to win.

They're a horrible club from top to bottom.

I have no idea how anyone likes them.

I detest the fact Jude is there because he's a fabulous player - and he actually comes across as an even better human being.

Why? I know TeaCider and one or two others have a massive downer on Real Madrid but I've never understood how anyone can dislike them more than the oil state owned clubs.
Some may argue they are......helped.......by the Spanish government.

European Super League - which they are still a member/still pushing for?

They would happily do anything to football to make themselves richer. Anything.

All 'big' 6 English clubs were well up for the Super League until they climbed down from their stance because they realised their fan bases wouldn't do as they were told. Unfair to lay ALL of that at Real Madrid's door anymore than Barca's or Juventus' or any other club who backed it then tried to make it look like someone else's fault.

"They would happily do anything to football to make themselves richer. Anything." - Same can be said of most of Europe's super clubs, and especially the ones who are running dictatorships in the countries they rule. In fact they'd do virtually anything to their populations to make themselves richer too and protect their positions.

Yes RM are sometimes seemingly helped by the Spanish government. But its helped them win 3 of the last 11 La Ligas so hardly like they're doing a great job of it.

They were backed to the hilt by the Spanish government for decades.

They are no better than oil clubs.
OK but you often say they are worse.

The Spanish government may back them but I don't think the Spanish government is as abominable as the rulers of the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia is it? Certainly not nowadays.

Not now it's not, but for decades they were backed by a fascist dictatorship, which was just as bad, it's where they've built their success from.

They're not the plucky underdogs against state wealth, they're the most arrogant, entitled club in the world, with a league structure heavily weighted in their favour, imagine if the head of the Premier League regularly gave interviews and support towards Man City trying to sign Kylian Mbappe, and they still have the cheek to complain about other clubs spending money.

The Big 6 backed down over the Super League, and rightly so.
Perez is still constantly pushing for it whilst competing in the competition he wants to destroy.

I'm not suggesting they're plucky underdogs by any means, I just don't see how they can be categorically *worse*. I like to see all of these clubs fail to be honest.

I wanted RM to win last night purely as I don't want to see City win the treble every season. I'd have even wanted PSG to beat City.

Man City have won the CL once.

Real Madrid have won it 14 times and they have won it 5 of the last 10 years. They could win 6 out of 11 and are currently the bookies favourite to do so.

I know. But they don't compete in England and they haven't also won 6 out of 7 titles here, like City are about to do.

5 of those 14 happened back to back long before I was born to be fair. They had a 30 year spell of not winning it and more recently a 12 year spell. I never worry about them just ruining football entirely. They have always been 'good' but they'll never get more dominant than they are.

They've won one of the last 5 CLs. I can live with them winning a second but I'd prefer BM (who also have) or BVB.

They want to ruin football more than any other club currently. All for their personal gain.

They are and have always been a cancer of football.

They are by far the worst club in world football in that regard. IMO. And although these oil state owned clubs aren't healthy for the sport, they have a long way to go to become a more bloodsucking club than Real Madrid.

Even if that's true, and I think its a bit of a stretch (they presumably need football, the oil states don't, they'll just find another way to try and brainwash the west) they aren't doing a very good job of it at present.

It's virtually impossible.

Two German teams progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League, two English teams were knocked out.

Leverkusen are 2-0 up from the first leg against West Ham and have yet to lose a match all season.

Liverpool are 3-0 down.

Aston Villa aren't going to earn enough coefficient points by themselves even if they win the Conference League.

Aston Villa are losing 3-2.

Every English side is heading out.
