Coburn, the Teesside Haaland?

Out of all the signings during the summer the fact that we are keeping Josh is, for me, one of the most exciting things to look forward to. With the attacking style we played last year it will be interesting to see how he does. People are saying that Josh will not be able to play in Micheal Carrick‘s possession based team. These are Erling Haaland’s stats for Man City last year.

Man City, average passes per game: 688.
Haaland, average passes per game: 12.
Haaland, average touches per game: 24.
Haaland, average goals per game: 1.23!

Josh will need to work hard without the ball and pressurise their defenders, defend from the front, be patient out of possession and switch on when the ball comes into the box. If he scores 20 this season he will be worth a fortune. Hopefully we will be in the PL by then and we wont need to sell him!
Just need a song for him now. (y)

I hope he’s upgraded to second choice now and gets the nod ahead of Crooks when making changes. He’s a striker and he knows where the goal is. Hope he gets plenty of minutes between now and January.
Yes, he must play in front of Crooks, surely!

I really hope he gets a fair Crack of the whip game timewise now. Much rather give our own lads a chance to develop.

Hope he gets game time. I'm presuming he's staying due to not securing other targets. Although maybe impressed Carrick?

I've been screaming for him to come on during the last few games. He's a CF and a better No9 option than Crooks. I'm guessing we've held him back thinking he was leaving.

I'd back him to get 6-8 goals + over a season. He's alresdy proved he's a goal in him.

Think he’s been injured S7. Watched the highlights of the Bolton game and he looks like he has bulked up a bit. Not just a skinny kid anymore!

He’s got the natural goalscoring touch, which is the most valuable skill in football.

Would love to see him play a lot more, would be incredible if we could develop our own goal machine.

I've got mixed feelings if I'm honest.

I really hope he seizes this chance with both hands because I love seeing the kids come through and do well, but until two days ago he wasn't considered ready and was heading out on loan.

Something has obviously changed and its not that the club has suddenly decided they think he's ready for the first team, but plenty of players have seized their opportunity through unexpected circumstances, I hope he one of them.

Crook's injury is what caused the change of mind together with no incoming striker.

I would be delighted to see him flourish at boro...he has shown signs of being a bit of a paul Wilkinson in my opinion
If given the chance josh ....relax...smile...enjoy it...and then " gerrin to en and fu%% em up....gerrin to em and fu%% em up"
Fight for every ball....don't be afraid to have a go....
You could be brilliant mate.

Yes, the fact that he is staying put being due to us failing to get a striker in is the bit that I have mixed feelings about.

Carrick obviously hasn't changed his view on Coburn at the 11th hour.

I was sat behind in the stand at York, him and Gilbert both got pies. Josh deffo knocked his back quicker. So on that basis I'm sure he's buying up 💪 .

As others have said, if he isn't ahead of Crooks coming on up top I'll be fairly annoyed, what's the point otherwise?
