Coffee...at home.

I love a coffee me. Normally have one when I'm out but not paying Costa prices and Starbucks is terrible imo.
Greggs is actually quite good and McDs is decent (esp with a sausage and egg McMuffin).

Anyway, at home I've not a big coffee drinker as it gives me acid so I'm not paying for expensive machine.
Instant coffee regardless of cheap or more expensive....is just instant coffee. I don't know how anyone can drink the stuff.

I have a pod machine. Certainly an upgrade from instant but for some reason they wreck my stomach (maybe something in the pods?).

I've heard good things about Taylor's coffee bags....although that just seems weird and also the Aeropress thingy. Anyone tried either?
Or maybe I should just get a french press?

Opinions?

Aeropress is great for the price though I must admit after about a month if using it it hasn’t seen daylight. If you are motivated to use it I think it is good value for money.

Aeropress is probably the most cost-effective decent coffee you will ever find, especially black coffee with fresh beans or half decent granulated.

Pays itself back in a couple of weeks, and you'll end up using it forever.

What are you having instead of the Aeropress?

Even if you just use filter coffee, or grind loads of beans at once it's still really good. Only takes about 1 minute longer than using instant crap.

I've had a Nespresso for years, and got a Vertuo a few years ago. The coffee is decent as far as pods go anyway, and works out about 50p a cup. The original style pods are a bit cheaper. The machines are reasonably priced too, can get them for under £100. Once this breaks though, I'll be looking at something else as my wife doesn't like giving money to Nestle and their immoral and unethical practices.

I've tried the Taylors bags, and they don't taste very good to me, bit like coffee flavoured tea.

You are right though, Costa and Starbucks are ridiculously expensive now, almost a fiver for a coffee, which is usually not the best.

Having a Costco card, I used to get jobbed off with getting the beans in.
I got them Lavazza.
I got them Starbucks.
I got them Dunkin Donuts.

They one they all preferred? Costcos own cheap brand

You like McDonald's coffee? I think it's the worst I've ever had from a takeout place, regardless of how cheap it is.

Nespresso machine for me with the Aeroccino milk frother. I usually just get the Amazon brand pods, Solimo I think they are called, great value for money compared to the big brands like Starbucks.

I've drank Nescafe Gold Smooth for years and won't drink anything else at home. It is £7 a jar which is a snip when you consider the price of a Costa these days.

Good heaped teaspoon, two sweeteners and a good glug of semi, you won't regret it.

If I were using it just for me then I would definitely recommend it. When I get it out though I have to do the Mrs one, then my daughters smell the aroma and they want one. Its more the capacity issue. I use instant now.

Ahh, I see, maybe just make it with more grinds in there, then split that over the cups and dilute it? I do that sometimes if making up 2-3. It's not as nice as an individual one, but still very good.

French Press everytime, from charity shops about £3. Everyone is giving them away ATM because they are being mugged off by Pods which are not only expensive(just joking don't take offence)but terrible for the environment..
