comeback kings, not the accolade it seems

so Sky showed a stat that we have - won - 21 points (now 22) after going behind in games this season.

That shows some fortitude, which is to be applauded however - not checked how many of these games were under Wilder - it also shows we're making poor defensive mistakes that are costing us soft goals - putting ourselves at a a bad position..

I'd rather we be somewhere midtable on that stat - which would hint that we have a good balance between defensive solidity & ability to score goals & so win games.

We need to work on the defensive side of the game, possession is not everything & 'enjoying the ball' in training is fine - no points are lost - however using your brain, reading the situation, is more important than trying to control the ball & then look up / dribble out of a congested defensive 3rd: the best players are the ones that make good decisions.

FYI: Blackburn have managed just 2 points after going behind..

Carrick has had to work with the players he inherited, and fair do's he has given the majority of the squad a chance.

Defensively we have looked suspect, but it's down to the style of attacking football we play. High risk, high reward.

Sure Carrick is smart enough to realise that the defence has problems and come next season we will be looking at possibly 3 new players in there - 4 if Steffen doesn't return (on loan).

Not being able to come back from a goal or two down was the achilles heel of the Karanka and Pulis teams so its a useful skill to have when we seem to be heading for the unpredictable play offs.

The fact is we don’t have enough good defenders and that’s the dilemma Carrick has…….Bola the better left back, Giles our most creative player.

I suppose you could say that 10 of those deficits happened before Carrick took over.

But that does still mean we've been behind in 13 games out of 25 under Carrick, which is a concerning stat, even if we only lost 6 of them.
