It's a great opportunity for him to earn more money and show his ability in the best league in the world, it doesn't matter if it's Bournemouth. Like someone else said, he might not get the opportunity again, staying with us would be a gamble for him.

Good money for the club on another player that cost us nothing, this is the type of thing we have to do if we want to have a progressive model as a football club providing that we reinvest smartly. Kieran Scott's first summer transfer window and he certainly has something to work with now, let's see what he can do.

I don't fall out with the club wanting to cash in this summer, he would have fetched far less next summer going into the final year of his contract and potentially could have left for nothing a year later.

It's good business I think, as much as its frustrating to see one of our best players leave.

It's not just a move for money. The exposure that can come from playing in the PL (and standing out) can be enough to keep the player there long term, even if the team gets relegated.

I think people forget that we aren't the Middlesbrough of the 90s, early 00s that were signing superstars, winning trophies, playing in Europe etc. We are the Middlesbrough that has spent 1 single, God awful, season in the PL in 13 years and were only genuine promotion contenders in 2 of them. Bournemouth have had 5 years in that time.

Staying with us is no long term guarantee of anything. He might never get to play in the PL with us. This season might not go to plan, Wilder leaves and we're back to square one and he's missed his chance. Or we get promoted, he gets injured, and never gets to play in the PL.

I don't begrudge anyone wanting to give it a go in the PL if the offer is there for them and the fee is suitable for us.

I suspect that if he was in any way wavering about another season with us, the fact that we'll be going into the first game of the season with only 14, maybe 15 if Forss signs, outfield first team players would surely make a player in demand think "sod it, this club isn't going to get me in the Premier League next season". Why should he put up with a season of playing every game for, at the moment, a club that isn't in position to properly challenge? Couple of injuries, we're screwed. If I were Fry I'd also be wondering whats going on.

Good luck to him. Bournemouth strike me as a team that like to play progressive football, and though they'll be up against it he'll get the chance to show what he's made of. He might not be good enough - I suspect he probably won't be, but it's better than a team treading water in this godawful division.
