Competitive Pegging

Aaah but isn't their pay rise set by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). They obviously have different margins to fill MPs pockets than the NHS Pay Review Body (NHSPRB) for the Nurses. They are always stressing that their pay rises are independently set. Barstewards 🤬

All the Tory talking heads are out now, blatantly lying to the that public sector pay rises will drive inflation.

What was even worse about that is the Tory minister didn’t even know how much his pay rise was. He deliberately got Streeting to answer.
Two reasons for this:
1: He doesn't know, as he doesn't need to even look at his pay packet or check his bank balance, as he knows he's rich.
2: He does know, but doesn't want to say as he's got no answer for why his went up, but nurses hasn't.

Not quite the same for the Nurses and Junior Doctors, counting the pennies and in massive debt.

To be fair mind, I'm not actually against MP's being paid what they are, it seems a fair price for the level of responsibility of the role but they still shouldn't be getting it, if we can't do the same for those saving lives.

You might not like the members of the opposition just now but streeting mugged the paymaster general right off there…

wasn’t scared to give the answer unlike the Tory bot…
But still managed to twist it enough to make not giving nurses a proper pay rise sound reasonable.

Again, he answered in a very responsible way..
He knows it’s pointless making some grand gesture that labour would give them what they want as labour aren’t in government and can’t make that offer..

They are free to say what they would do if they were in government.

They are, but the govt would use what ever they say against them.. as either backing strikes, furling inflation or just making unrealistic promises..

Their best option is just to push it back on the govt to get round the table and strike a deal… anything else is hypothetical

Are there formal rules?

The only one I had heard was that a Royal Flush is called when the brown is available?

Their best option is to tell the world that public sector pay rises don't fuel inflation, but perhaps they don't want the world to know that.

It would make the coronation more interesting if that’s how they decided who would be king. William would win hands down!
