Not during lockdown I hopeI once was invited into a party by the Socialist Party of Portugal in Lisbon. It was a superb night. I am so happy to hear this result.
No. Quite a few years ago now.Not during lockdown I hope
No such party existsPlease repeat it in our country too.
I don't know what the Portugese Socialists manifesto is. All I know (or at least understand) is that they do not have the Portugese equivalent of the Tories in power. That is good enough for me.Hang on, some socialism is good, does anybody truly want a full on socialist party to run the country, tories out, for sure, but full scale socialism???
Excellent.A beacon of light across Europe.
won every region.....
rolled back austerity, had an adult discussion around drug use and now move towards a 4 day working week for workers

The thing is Warwick, what I have described is not full scale socialism, at least that is my opinion. Left leaning and progressive yes but not outright socialism.I just want the tories out, but full scale socialism seems a bit extreme, for me left leaning without the extremes would be great to see, hopefully the Portuguese have got a progressive left thinking government that still have the overall economy on mind, i agree on energy being nationalised and potentially rail, I wouldn't want to see to much being nationalised as that would lead to constant strikes etc and a complete union racket job which plagued us in the 70s, something g to the left but not extreme left would be lovely.
Ah yes, the 1970's, when the gap between rich and poor was the narrowest it's ever been. Don't want any of that commie muck anymore.I just want the tories out, but full scale socialism seems a bit extreme, for me left leaning without the extremes would be great to see, hopefully the Portuguese have got a progressive left thinking government that still have the overall economy on mind, i agree on energy being nationalised and potentially rail, I wouldn't want to see to much being nationalised as that would lead to constant strikes etc and a complete union racket job which plagued us in the 70s, something g to the left but not extreme left would be lovely.
Yes please, it doesn't have to be the State Capitalism models that socialists are tarred with.Hang on, some socialism is good, does anybody truly want a full on socialist party to run the country, tories out, for sure, but full scale socialism???
Well that isn't true lol, you guys are so OTT with this, i would like to see a left thinking party, without going full tilt to socialism, that is not a crazy thought is it?Ah yes, the 1970's, when the gap between rich and poor was the narrowest it's ever been. Don't want any of that commie muck anymore.
I really like some of the ideas, I just don't want a country where the majority of the population works for the state, thats not a safe balance to have. Out with the tories, in with something a tad more left thinking. This is just an opinion, why do you guys get so hateful towards anything other than a person who wants full on socialism? It may be that the Portuguese govt are the best bits of socialism without some of the nutty bits which would be great, its my opinion that we don't have to replace the tories with something as fringe left as humanly possible, they need replacing urgently and I agree, is that a terrible thought?Yes please, it doesn't have to be the State Capitalism models that socialists are tarred with.
Not a single Tory would see the country make enormous forward strides.
