Well according to the stats he’s been involved in more goals than any other boro player this season and only Giles has created more chances than him, so I’d say it was an accurate appraisal.

Totally different scenario. During his best spell e was on the right of a midfield 3, not the player expected to supply the width and deliver into the box. Totally different to being a right midfielder/winger in a four across midfield.

I think Jones is going to play a pivotal role in this formation Carrick is playing because we absolutely need pace and Jones has it. Did you notice the 3-4 times diagonal ball over the LFB for jones to go clear and he shouldve really scored or come close...
This 4-4-2 reminds me a little of the Jack Charlton's champs with Alan Foggon breaking free with pace to stretch teams and Jones can be our new Alan F. Suck teams in and hit them....that said, we can play a bit with chuba and Jonny and hayden emerging.
McGree is my worry - not sure where he fits in because he doesn't seem like a left side midfielder as we seem to need someone physically stronger in that area. (perhaps Carrick is working on him)
I like Smith at RFB because he is no frills but clearly an influencer and leader of men. That's 2 leaders in the team in Lenihan and Smith (the great Man U team ; which Carrick will be looking back at ; has 3 mian leaders, Bruce, Gary Neville and Roy Keane)
If you have 3 leaders you'll normally start to go places.
Watching them last night made me feel more optimistic because i'm not a fan of the appointment but hoping and praying i'm badly wrong.
 
If we played 433 - Crooks could play a false number 10 with Jones the right side of the midfield 3

He'd be getting in the way of chuba then though.....
This formation has Man U and Ferguson stamped all over it because it's flexible in possession and encourages at least one full back to 'bomb on' and join the midfield to bolster options to pass to....out of possession becomes a 4-5-1 but with pace waiting in Jones....if we nick the ball back...
It offers a solidity that 3-5-2 doesn't which I think is why Ferguson always favoured (mostly) a 4-4-2 but maximum flexibility from his players to adapt to the situation in play...

Fast recovery if he did also Giles is a very poor defender he needs somebody behind him to play that role take a look at his defending last night he was Easily beaten.

I had high hopes for him when he first arrived, but i just don’t see where he fits into our side - he doesn’t offer enough as a ten and he’s too lightweight for a midfield role. I’m nervous every time someone passes him the ball in our half as he gets robbed of the ball far too often
 
If Crooks hasn't had the operation he should be nowhere near the first-team, and frankly it's ridiculous if he hasn't.

Surely even that Luongo would offer us more right now.
