Dael Fry

Dont think McNair wants to be a permanent CB does he? I would play him as a holding midfielder because he definitely in the starting 11.
Dijksteel has looked very solid when he has played as 1 of 3 CBs - wonder if we will see a bit more of that shape with Fisher and Bola playing Wing Back between now and end of season? Fisher looks like he might offer more going forward than Dijksteel while offering more solidity defensively in that role than Spence. Long shot but could Dijksteel play as part of a back four alongside Fry and push McNair into CM? Not sure if that is a good or a bad idea but might be the only way currently to get Paddy into midfield.

Its a funny old game. Loads of comments last season that he wasn't upto the task. Same with Gibson and yet you see him well regarded by a manager of a team at the top of the division.

I felt last season that he was too easy to bully and he also seemed to get caught under the high ball a lot when it was played into the mixer. This season his strength appears to have caught up with his size and he looks like he is far more competitive physically and is imposing himself more. This also seems to have helped with my second point, he is far more effective under high balls and winning far more headers. Just needs to toughen up his face...

He is a great competitor, good defensively in the air, reasonably quick and covers the RB well. He looks stronger than last season and his weakness at being slow to turn is negated by man for man marking in front of him. Also his hoofs to no one in particular up front are now our gameplan.

Must be worth £25m+ now. Crazy that we have a defence that's now possibly worth £60m when last season you wouldn't have given a bag of spanners.

I took my lad to see his first game at the riverside against Millwall when Bola made his debut and I have never seen a player look so lacking in self self belief. Contrast that to the player we see now - his growth under Warnock has been astonishing to witness

Fry, Bola and Dijksteel are all coming along nicely and Fisher looks very good cover at the very least.
The way we play protects them.
Howson and Morsy can sit in front and our wide players are ordered to work hard deep.

It would be interesting to see our defence cope if we ever do get a creative injection wide and central (as Coluka and I have been desperate for amongst others) and a striker who can actually hold the ball (and actually take chances) and draw others into play.
Unless it comes through the Academy, I guess we'll have to wait longer, as those players are the most sought after and expensive.
