Dael Fry

What are people talking about. He's a good young English centre half.
Saying take the money to improve the squad, oh yes hows that been working out for us.
We have money as has been shown by the money we have bid for players.
We can't get them and need more in the squad not selling more.

Its been 7 years since he signed his first professional contract with us.
155 Boro appearances.
Hes 25 on 30th August.
We could get a decent price - and it might do Dael no harm to have a change of scenery?
£10M(y)
If he's worth £10m that clearly makes him the most valuable defender at the club, if not the most valuable player in the squad. And that includes Jones for whom it would appear we have received zero actual offers.

Sell a £10m defender and replace him with a free transfer who is not exactly sparkling atm. That makes sense only to Boro fans.

Jones doesnt come into the equation.
Fry has plenty of Championship experience.
Theres no suggestion here as to who might replace him.
On that basis we would never sell anyone.
Sometimes its time for a change - as much for Dael as for us.

People seem to be forgetting that Lenihan has been at fault in one way or another in several of the goals we gave conceded so far this season and he has already had a red card, but it’s ok because he is a Wilder type of player.
Fry might not play the ball out as well as others but is a far better player than Lenihan will ever be.
To sell Fry now and keep playing Lenihan would be madness.

Roofie hes been the best defender at the club for the past few years why do you want the club to sell and how do you think it will make Boro stronger. Seems to be a lot on here want him sold when the likelihood of getting someone of comparable standard is next to none. Local lad as well probably has no intention of moving. It's disappointing the negativity around such an excellent defender

Lenihan is clearly getting the nod over Fry atm, and he appears to be worth every penny we paid for him.

If Fry is worth £10m but Wilder doesn't fancy him then I would have no problem with him being sold. Hopefully we would spend it on a decent centre floorboard before we drop any more points. I really can't see him shelling out more than £4m on a CH mind, otherwise we would have signed one by now. Greaves deal could have been done by now for £5-£7m.
Btw, my personal valuation of Fry is around £4m. Not a prayer of getting £10m for a player who's been edged out of the side by a free transfer signing.

Selling fry for 4m and buying greaves for 7m would be one of the stupidest deals in the history of Middlesbrough football club. Absolutely ridiculous

£4m 😵‍💫 luckily you aren’t in charge of sales and recruitment

How do you know I aren't? - when you look at some of the business we have done e.g Britt, Fletch, Alves, and the rest. All turned out to be worth only a fraction of what we paid for them. We are well capable of doing stupid deals.

And i get that it's only human to overvalue what you have. You only see the the true value when the cash is laid on the table. I would eat my proverbial hat if we got £10m for him.

Just for entertainment - has anyone got any thought's on who's going to buy him for £10m?

Dale Fry is a mystery to me at the moment. He should be the first name on the team sheet. When he first came into the side he was going to be our ball playing defender, the new Gary Pallister. He seems to have gone backwards. Under Wilder he should be first choice with the, playing out from the back and pressing style. I have watched him this week, against Barnsley and Sheffield United and he looks like a scared cat. OK, he has been solid but it is just safety first, kicking the ball out of play tactics and sitting too deep. We have a sweeper keeper so we do not need to sit too deep, especially at home. We need him to be our Van Dyke, pushing the team up to the half way line, controlling play, organising. He is capable of doing this but he isn’t. Surely super coach Chris Wilder can teach him to do this, rather than sell him? If he can, then we have a £50M defender in our team, hopefully playing in the Premier League next year. (y)

Absolute rubbish. We can't replace the below average squad members we have lost. Who will we replace one of our best defenders with.

Make no mistake, Fry is a superb defender and you build a defence around a player like him.
Where has this madness of selling him come from?
He's set his own standards pretty high, and all players dip from time to time. If he's lost a bit of form you expect top players to come out of the team and work hard in training until it clicks again. You don't just sell them!
I think he's currently playing at his level. Top end championship. But he definitely has the potential to be a week in week out premiership player. Hopefully with us.

If he can’t improve on the ball and do what we need him to do then it makes sense to cash in on him. We need to stop being scared of selling players, especially ones that don’t fit.
