Looking to by a decent dress watch as I only have an apple watch now.

Good quality and preferably automatic. Any recommendations for brands? looking at £100s not £1000s!

thanks

Citizen do some nice watches without breaking the bank.

I had this one, it was solar powered and cost around £350 i think.

Citizen or Seiko would be where I would look at first for that price range. I have a Citizen eco-drive (solar powered) watch that I really like. They come in all sorts of designs.

I used to buy Fossil, as they’re nice designs, but the quality has plummeted.

Skagen are very stylish, have a couple of those (about £150 each) but my favourite is my blue faced TW Steel, which was about £350 IIRC

Seiko always good value for money and some classic styles.
Nice Pepsi Bezel divers watch on a metal bracelet prob only be 250-500 range and are timeless in their aesthetic.

Direnzo Wandering Star - Swiss made, if you want something different to everyone else and a nice talking point. The floating second dot on a bed of lume looks fabulous. It’s released in the summer and has reasonable Selita movement. I think it’s about 900chf or £640. It’s reviewed now on the Worn and Wound watch forum, though it’s not released til February with delivery being early summer.
Tissot also produce quality budget/entry Swiss watches that punch above their weight and would be within your price range. I’ve got a PRC and a Le Locle model, the latter is a lovely dress watch. Likewise, Hamilton, American/Swiss, also produce stylish and different watches to the fashion brigade with a bit more horological substance.
I’ve been a watch nut a few years now and treat myself to an Omega when I retired.

Do you care about a brand name? If not there are some fantastic watches available from China for a fraction of the cost. If you know which ones to look for and which to avoid you can get exceptional value for money. Seiko NH35 movements, sapphire crystal dial and stainless steel bracelet in a Rolex design "homage" for £30-£50.

A Rolex homage is a category where they are using the Rolex design but not pretending it is a Rolex by sticking a Rolex logo on it. They are far higher quality than the knock-offs you usually see. They aren't pretending to be Rolex movement/quality either. You aren't saving £1,000s by getting a Rolex equivalent but they are as good as the £200-300 branded watches and far better than any fashion brand.

This Hotukdeals posting has a lot of reviews/discussion on them.

I have a rotary Skelton watch which is really nice I have had it about 8 years and it has never let me down as my daily wear, the Seiko 5 is a nice watch which has stood the test of time. Citizen eco drive make some really nice looking watches and get good reviews. I like the looks of the Swatch x Omega space series. My nearly realistic dream watches would probably be an Omega Seamaster or a Grand Seiko.

this is beautiful

Worth considering somewhere like Watchfinder if you're ok with £500-1000 range as you could get something like this for <£1k. If you keep the box and papers with it shouldnt lose much value really

For new cant go wrong with Hamilton and seiko in that price range. Longines are cool if you like a more retro design and don't mind buying used. Another new watch would be the Tissot PRX, a very popular modern watch as its a budget version of the AP Royal Oak which is a 30 grand watch.

I have a Rotary Les Originales - Tradition. It was a birthday gift and I wear it all the time, very smart and not over fussy at all.
