Dijksteel, O'Brien, Thomas, Silvera

I'd drive Silvera to Sydney myself. Having slight glimpses won't cut it in this league, he goes missing for large parts of the games and the ball bounces off him. Whether it's Carrick's instructions or Sammy's laziness, but I didn't see him try to run in behind their back line all night.

Having said that, I thought Azaz was our poorest forward player tonight. He needs to get on those weights through the Summer, a fresh breeze would knock him off the ball.
Thought Azaz had his best game last night

Not sure what you were watching last night with that comment but I agree with most and say Azaz had a decent game last night, Silvera played ok ( not great) and Azaz was everywhere.

O'Brien was good

Silvera wasnt as bad as usual but I just dont think he's good enough, maybe a loan next season?

Djiksteel was poor but given he's hardly played its not surprising, dont expect him to be here next season

Thomas was meh

O'Brien? Are you winding me up?

He was excellent last night. You need to take up another sport if you think that was a poor performance.
F*cking chill out.

I suggest you don't go on public message boards where, like, you know, people can have different opinions and views. Sure there is an echo chamber somewhere that is more suitable.

Was he bollox "excellent" - and I say this as someone who rates him and hope we keep him on loan next season.

Silvera got in behind and played a great cross to Azaz at the back post.

He was constantly moving and looking to link up. I honestly feel people watch a different game.

Dijksteel gave one of his car crash performances. I've regularly defended him, but he was horrendous first half yesterday.
Silvera is awful, miles below standard. That is not bias, it is obvious.
Thomas did pretty well last night I thought. I think Engel would have been ripped to bits. Bangura did very well when he came on, but the game was different by then and we were massively front foot.
O'Brien had an awful first half and lost possession in midfield so many times leading to danger/conceding. He was much better second half, much better.
Azaz is ponderous and lightweight. Not a good combination. He has some skill, but will never get the time he wants, or can create himself.

Leeds are excellent going forward, but very poor at the back.
We just gave the ball away too easily and they exploited our defensive frailty.

I enjoyed the match and particularly the finale, but we need an influx of quality to contend next season - and not just a return from the treatment table.

You just need to compare the potency of their front 4 compared to ours. We've massively been reliant on Lath's goals recently for results.

7 out of our last 11 goals have been scored by Lath stretching back 7 matches. We've also been the benefiter of an own goal. So 3 goals in 7 games from other Boro players. It's not enough.
Great that Lath is scoring now and his all round performances have improved so much from here he was before Xmas, that's a massive positive, but we need more quality around him in that final third.

If Jones is going to play, we need a goalscoring no10 and a goalscoring LF.

I could say the same to you, but like my original point, glimpses here and there isn't good enough at this level.

I purposely watched Silvera for a good 5 minute period in that second half (probably the 5 minutes Azaz played well 👀) and he never showed an ounce of willingness. Stood like a statue waiting for the ball to come to him, and even then it bounces off him. If Sammy is to be here next year, he'll need a good summer and pre-season under his belt.

Yeah, I think some are getting a bit carried away in regards to Bangura. He has looked decent going forward but I'm still unsure on whether he's going to be good enough defensively.

Personally I'd be looking to loan Engel out next season (with the option of recalling him if we have another injury crisis) and then I'd have Bangura and a new LB competing for that position.

I would keep O’Brien depending on cost, not one to push the boat out on but I think he has had some really good games and especially after his injury. Dijksteel and Thomas very poor and need to be convinced about Silvera, it is still early stages for him. I thought Howson struggled last night, have always rated him but he looked off the pace of the game. My biggest worry is can we hold on to Latte Lath, could see one of promoted clubs or one of those coming down being interested. He looks like a potential 20 goal striker so we desperately need to hold on to him. Interesting summer ahead

Howson looked knackered last 20 mins, thought he had a decent game against their pretty mobile midfield.

They've conceded fewer goals than anyone in the league
I get that, but I've watched them concede 5 against us this season and they could have conceded many more. It's not as though we are the free scoring kings of last season.
They look very frail to me defensively.

Pi55ing myself reading this thread - thank god nobody on here is our manager

I think, without exception, every player last night, plus one or two others, have been classed as both a) brilliant, b) 5hite

If Jones is going to play, we need a goalscoring no10 and a goalscoring LF.
Absolutely. Jones is kind of a Watmore type. He'll score the odd goal he has no right to then miss 5 chances it is easier to score from. The problem is that Carrick's system generates a lot of chances for the right forward position and we need someone who is good at converting those chances or we really have to make up the lack elsewhere.

Azaz looks like he'll be a goal-scoring #10 but even if he keeps improving, it's hard to see him being one of the top #10s in the league next season.

We don't have a functioning left forward right now.

Thing is, to get promoted, you need a forward line of about the quality that Leeds have and right now, with the exception of Latte Lath, we're not even close.

They literally have the lowest goals against in the league. Conceded precisely 4 goals from January to the end of March.
They have had a bit of wobble in April.
The most they have conceded in a game is 3 goals: against us, Southampton and Ipswich. They won two of those 4:3. Their 3-1 loss to Southampton is the only time all season they have lost by more than 1 goal.

I've already said I can read the goals against column - thanks.

I said I had watched them play us twice this season, we have stuck five past them and could have scored many more both here and at Elland Road.
When you are as good going forward as they are, you can strangle the life out of many opponents.
