DJed Spence ******

Other than a few quotes from Warnock who is well known for talking complete *****, do we actually have any evidence of a bad attitude?

From his performances at Forest he doesn’t really look like a player with an attitude problem
Woodgate, conte, Even Farke has alluded to problems.

Care little about him tbh.

He's obviously got a right stick up his ar*e about Boro, Warnock for whatever reason.

We gave him his chance after he was sacked off by Fulham, big money move to Spurs sees him financially set for life.......

Just comes across as an immature little boy. And karma is a funny thing 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

It's an odd one. He's clearly got talent and was superb at forest. He was also decent for us. Many seem to quickly forget he was a breath of fresh air when he came into the side.

I guess like many wingbacks not great at actual defending. Then again you could say that about TAA.

He's apparently been labeled as being a bit of a bell end at 3 clubs now. You'd think the penny would drop and he'd knuckle under and think 'I really need to address my attitude'. He's in a privileged position. Don't waste it by being a tool.

At what point will it sink in? Will it ever? I'm sure family / friends and agents must have had a word.

Football is a small world. Managers and owners talk prior to signing a player. They want to know everything about them. So it really can't help him if it's nothing but negative.

In football you can get away with having attitude problems as long as you are performing on the pitch as he did at Forest they are generally ignored by management and fans alike but when adversity happens all the negative aspects of his character appear and as has possibly happened at Leeds he could be more bother than he is worth.

There was an incidence at Rockcliffe when he was dropped after playing with a scooter and Kebano a player on loan from Fulham was injured. We ended up losing both of them for the game. It was end of season, but still a negative mark. Clubs obviously invest millions in wages and fees etc on the players and the players should behave sensibly with their lives in return. Being a Championship footballer is not an ordinary job.

Hopefully, if he moves on from Spurs....we will accumulate a few pennies to add to our pot, to purchase new arrivals for our thin squad?

I can’t see anyway they would make a profit on him, they’d struggle to get half their outlay back.

When you read the full quote from Farke its not really damning. Says some good things about him(highlighted) which seem to disprove the attitude issue.

On why Leeds were sending Spence back, Farke said: "After a little bit of time after the New Year's game we've analysed the first half of the season, the first months and especially also the impressions over the festive periods. Obviously when you make decisions in January, it's not a short-term decision.

"It's more like you're thinking over situations even in the weeks and the month before, but we wanted also to take the impressions of the festive period into account and then there was a time also to share the thoughts and to discuss the things. We came to the conclusion that we will end the loan for Djed and he will return to Tottenham. We are grateful for his time here.

"He's a player of great potential and also a cool guy with a really good heart so we really wish him all the best. But yeah, sometimes you need to take a decision.
I don't want to talk too much about Djed right now, because he's meanwhile also back at Tottenham, and I totally respect that he's their player.

"Listen, in the summer we came here in order to create and to bring new values and to create a new culture within the club and when we speak about a player if he's on here on a permanent or a loan deal, we have expectations and these expectations are in several topics important.

"Obviously it's important, the potential and the quality of the player but also it's professionalism, it's discipline, it's workload on and off the pitch. And also the soft skills, so also if he's positive and committed, good for the group and engaged with these topics, to paint then more or less a picture.

"We decided 'okay, this is the player we want in our group and want to represent Leeds United'. But our demands are very, very high and we don't differ between loan players and permanent players, so we are pretty picky in this topic."

That was the situation posted December 2nd.
Is there a sell on clause?

Ah didn’t notice the date. Not sure but if there is, they would need to sell at a profit for us to get a cut and there’s no chance of that. No chance Levy would agree to any sell on clause that wasn’t profit based.

Farke would be crazy to criticise Spence in these circumstances, it would cause issues between the two clubs given that it would most likely devalue Spurs asset.

Very few managers would, if any.

It's a real shame, because the young man definitely has talent.
The problem is, his ego has rented his head.
Warnock told him he could be in the Premier League or non-league within a few years, an the choice was his.
Warnock was right

Yes - can't be good for the dressing room with his head taking up three quarters of it

So hes either lying or people are assuming. Or could be as it is. He says he is a Tottenham player so thats no surprise.

I'd describe it as being diplomatic.

The likelihood of future loans from spurs would be damaged had he criticised his attitude, given it would devalue Spence in the xfer market.

He's looking after his/Leeds interest.
