Djed Spence

I've had a change of heart.

He's a good kid.

If anything the world of football needs to be kinder to him. Lets help Djed be the best Djed he can be.

I'd be surprised if he's a millionaire to be honest, and I'm willing to bet everything I have that he wont be by the time he's 40.
If he isn't he won't be too far off. 20k a week will make you a millionaire before tax, and I doubt someone signing for spurs on that sort of fee goes straight in at £20k

Estimates online range from 25k a week to £45k a week so that's 1.3m a year to 2.3m a year, plus he'll have his much lower salary from when he was with us /forest. Depends what he spends I guess but would imagine all players have some form of sponsorships and kit deals adding to earnings on top. He's certainly not gonna be broke in a hurry as he has a contract to 2027 so unless he chooses to take a paycut he will earn another £3m+ even if he never gets another contract which seems unlikely

Djed Spence: “I don’t think Spurs fans know me as a player”.“They’ve probably seen me from Forest days but I haven’t played so they don’t know what I’m capable of. The best is yet to come”, told The Athletic.

I can't see him getting another chance in English football without going and succeeding somewhere else first. What team would be willing to take a punt on him?

If Forest go down... Maybe?
Luton?

He should have gone to Forest permanently after the loan and promotion with them. He was playing well and I think that the fans liked him there. Instead he is basically drifting around like a nomad, sitting on bench, being sent off on loan overseas.

He obviously fell out with Warnock, but sometimes even if you dislike the person you have to look for the nugget of truth in what they are telling you, especially someone as experienced as him.

I remember when he first came onto the scene at Boro Neil Madison saying something along the lines of “He could be Premier League or non-league and which of them it will be will depend on what goes on between his ears”

Pretty much sums Spence up in a sentence

I suspect it's because it was the truth that he didn't like it.

That's his character though. To be fair it probably lit a fire under his **** to prove Warnock wrong (although he was actually proving him right) for half a season, but it looks like once he'd done that and his petulant FU to Warnock on social media, he's reverted back to type.

A few on here were defending his attitude after we had loaned him out and sold him, don't hear that so much now, they seem to have gone quiet.

In the words of Delia Smith "Where are you? Where are you?!"

What a waste of talent and opportunity.
He looked the dog's wotsits when he broke into our first team, but "attitude" is his problem.
He's fortunate and privileged to have the opportunity to be a professional footballer, but he obviously doesn't realise it.

I don’t think there was much wrong with his attitude at Forest. Seemed very motivated. Manager and fans loved him.

Hopefully he can refocus but there is always a risk with players set for life with a big contract at such a young age that they lose drive and focus.

I can't find it again now but I read an interview with i think the director of football at genoa basically saying they like him but he has to be managed properly to get the best from him and they'd probably like to keep him
