Early Bird Season Ticket Prices Announced

even if we had 30k renewing at £369 that's £11m

30k renewing at £300 would be £9m

Doesn't make a huge difference at end of the day. Obviously extra merchandise and drinks sales with higher crowds but it's not like the extra cash funds a war chest.

What would fans rather have, a player like Akpom or cheaper tickets?

Obviously more to it than that but goes to show it's not all about match day ticket cost; TV money and sponsorship, good cup runs and league positions for prize money are more important for revenue

What we know for certain about "the best ticket pricing model":

It will not provide sufficient revenue to guarantee or sustain PL football.
It won't fill the stadium in the championship.
Some fans will be unhappy with it.

I don't think any one is asking for faith. Conversely, I haven't seen any evidence that we haven't found the optimal model.
10k empty seats says we haven't.

Season ticket prices are good, especially for existing season ticket holders. Those people are unsurprisingly happy with the ticket prices. New season tickets and walk-ups are where the prices become an issue. Particularly walk-ups. Personally I've decided against loads of matches because a few of us going to the match at £35 a ticket is too much.

How many empty seats would you expect us to have under the perfect model? We're guaranteed to have some at this level, and if we didn't, we'd be looking to expand the ground. 17-8k empty seats in our previous championship stint say a smaller gap between ST and walk up prices was worse.

That is your personal position. As I said, no model will please everyone.

I had a very long conversation with the Bars Manager earlier this season.
The Free Drink is an operationally very problematic thing to administer and slows down considerably the catering teams' ability to serve people in the concourses.
Conceptually it is a good initiative to offer long standing fans, but it impacts bar efficiency enormously as recognition of the SC is on a different system to the basic tills.
The offer looks valuable to a SC holder at c £4 per match if a pint ordered. It costs a lot less to Boro because of the huge Gross Margin on food and drink, but it prevents a lot more pints being sold because of the difficulty of serving drinks.
I'd personally be happy to get a voucher and/or further discount on merchandise and sacrifice the free drink, knowing it means I could get served quicker at the bar before the match and at half time.
I can tell you that the Bars Manager would say it is the single biggest thing that would improve service in the concourses.

Sorry but today kills this excuse stone dead.

The service today was absolutely pathetic, with no free drinks whatsoever to administer.

The most expensive new season ticket will be £675, or £29.34 a match.

That's in the West Stand Upper.

Currently a walk up ticket there is £35 a match, though it will likely be more next season.
That's only a 16% saving.

The cheapest new adult season ticket is £514, or £22.34 a match, and the ticket there £30 at walk up.
That's still only a 26% saving.

Those savings are likely less if the walk up prices increase as well, which they will.

Our prices are too high, in all regards, but the proportional savings for season ticket holders are spot on.
You’re not comparing apples with apples though are you?

Just found a ticket from the 2018 season against Shef Wed, 26th December £30-00 now lets moan about price increases.

Managed to get my SC's after 3 hours, starting at 55 in t'ut que. Ticket office said (excuse) Worldpay are moving businesses over to a new more secure software system and Boro are not moved over yet, could be a couple of months wait.
I'm not buying it, a global payment system putting hundreds of thousand of it's customers through months of limbo. Yer having a laugh! I recon they're ferritin' out the Russian money launderer's. lol

From my own experience I think this 'Bars Manager' is talking a load of rubbish! When you get your free pint they simply scan your card and give you a pint. It takes seconds. I usually get that before the match and occasionally buy a second either before, during or after the match. Its definitely quicker when using your ST so not sure what they are talking about. What slows the process down is employing young people who seem to freeze when asked for something. Not their fault, I would suggest poorly trained. What makes it worse is there is generally more senior looking staff stood about just watching them fall apart in some cases, without the slightest bit of interest in getting things moving.

Its all gone a bit pear shaped lately. I started another thread for anyone purchasing season tickets on finance. The finance company, V12, are accepting applications but its the Boro who are then cancelling them for no apparent reason. The guy on the phone said its utter chaos with them at the minute.

No it doesn't.
The crowd was a full house and people were in the stadium quite early. There was much greater pressure on the bar staff. There were also more women and kids to cater for and more multiple purchases beyond pints.

The service wasn't pathetic, it is very frustrating for all.
They simply can't recruit and retain experienced high calibre bar staff and train people to multi-skill for this such infrequent and temporary of jobs.
They desperately need to multi-pour pints. The number of staff so often stood literally doing nothing because of the process they have of one on tills, one pouring a specific order is unhelpful. At peak times all of the fonts should be pouring all of the time.
The people doing the tills also too often seem to get flustered and need the help of people actually pouring.
Good, experienced bar staff not tied to the current system, pre-pouring and not dealing with SC free pints would have the bars working much more efficiently. Any Leisure business operating 25 times a year will find it difficult to find those staff in the current environment.

We can help by accepting poured pints instead of moaning about them and not being rude to the staff.

This argument the Free Drink doesn't impact is barmy. Getting your own drink once with your own card is easy if you are early, or post match. Getting a round using some SC's and another bank card is effectively two transactions that confuses staff for whom it often doesn't take much.

Unfortunately, you're wrong. It's not just MFC. We've had a card refused at Dunelm online for the exact same reason. I believe this scheme was supposed to be implemented in June and they've brought it in early.

What also slows it down is the speed it takes to pour a pint. It's not the staff they have it in full - bit it seems to pour so much slower than in pubs

Rang up yesterday morning as it WOULD NOT let me renew online - saying my reference number was wrong, despite me being logged in with my seat and details all correct.
Was 2nd then 1st in queue for 5 minutes then got through and paid it. Card went through fine

Renewed today.

I've lost my free drink because I tried to change the name on the season card I've been using for 8 consecutive seasons at the start of this season, the ticket office repeatedly pied me off when I emailed them about it.

Now I'm still stuck back with the old name, without the free drink, because I'd lose all accumulated priority points and be classed as a new season card user if I tried otherwise.

I can understand why there's limitations on transfer of ownership with season cards, but it seems daft when it was a family member's season card that I've been solely using and paying for since 2014.

Difficult though - because in the recent past there has been a bit of an issue of season cards transferring through families.
