EFL statement ref Derby (updates)

Which is why I’m kinda onboard with this slow dream out punishment! It did for Sheffield Wednesday ow hopefully it will do for derby!
So you're down with the 12 point deduction next season meaning in effect only two relegation places. Then Derby's issues are compounded by having been in a false position in the championship for a further season.

All of which is at the expense of Wycombe Wanderers.

Get it done done now! Tear off the plaster! I'd rather see a fit and proper team like Whycombe in the champo for an extra season having a good go at it rather than Derby stinking up the league for another season.

Yes there is that I guess.

Th ironic thing is that if Derby had been relegated in the league on Saturday then their fans would no doubt have been asking for the punishment to be applied this season, thereby making it irrelevant. As it is, they survive by 5 mins and therefore want it applied next season.

So if Mel Morris doesn`t find another buyer and he stops putting money in to the club, could we see a scenario whereby Derby County goes insolvent therefore getting a further points deduction and then if nothing changes go the same way as Bury FC?

Don`t mind them being relegated but don`t want to see another club go out of existence

There is a real fear amongst some fans here in Derby that it could go the same way as Bury. And I don't just mean by the doom merchants that every club has.

Mel Morris had to pay last month's wage bill of 1.2m which he doesn't want to keep doing. His wife is seriously ill and he isn't in the best of health and he want shot of the burden (but still wants to be Involved as a condition on any take over)

Before the pandemic, it was revealed the wage bill was 160% of income. For the last year, income has obviously fallen massively where as the wage bill hasn't.

If the club enters administration, football related cost still have to be be paid In full before any other payments are looked at. Wages, compensation to Keogh, fines and things like that must be paid in full and first as part of the footballer creditor rule.

Now the club can't sell the ground and lease it back to raise cash (woops) so that leaves the playing squad (of which there isn't many with much value).

Of course trying to sell players whilst in administration and in the current economic climate means they would get much less than a true valuation.

The only other salable asset is the training ground.

Administration along with FFP breach will probably bring a transfer embargo as well as points deduction, so the club starts next season with an even bigger points reduction, unable to sign players and having to sell what playering assets it can.

A very real risk that administration could lead to liquidation.

I, like a number of other Boro fans, have developed a real disliking towards Derby in recent times (the cheating gets!), but that is a very pitiful state of affairs that you have summed up there Anterimus.

The blame lies with the EFL. Clubs like Derby have bent and manipulated the rules for years in full view. The EFL have let them get away with it - for whatever reason.

I would think the youngsters would have some transfer value, Buchanen (1mill), Max Bird (2mill), Jason Knight (3mill), Louie Sibley (1mill)

Bielik is undoubtedly their best player, probably get 3 or 4mill for him and he'd be a bargain. I'm sure someone would punt 1mill on Tom Lawrence or Jozwiak.

A firesale of that lot for those knock down prices could raise about 11mill. It would keep the wolves from the door for a while I suppose, but leave them needing to sign free transfers and on very cheap League Two level wages

Well I would suspect that Mel Morris's senior role within the EFL would explain why Derby have been allowed to bend the rules like they have with no previous penalty
