But they have to find a new way to tax ev drivers to replace fuel duty.Everyone already is.

Not that this is great English but what I can decipher doesn't make much sense. Do you think EV are VAT free? Huh?This is not the point ice cars have vat on them It could be you will be taxed on how many miles you drive with new cars being reported when servicing arises and older cars when the mot is due.
You will pay in the future ,once they have most of us onboard then they will hit us with a new form of taxation to replace fuel duty.
But they have to find a new way to tax ev drivers to replace fuel duty.
At the moment ice drivers pay a lot of fuel duty with ev's you don't.Not that this is great English but what I can decipher doesn't make much sense. Do you think EV are VAT free? Huh?
Your statement was literally “ice cars have tax on them” it sounded like you were suggested EV weren’t subject to VAT.At the moment ice drivers pay a lot of fuel duty with ev's you don't.
In terms of raising revenue, the income from fuel duty provides the lion’s share of revenue received from motorists, at £25.1bn in 2022/23.3 This is more than three times larger than VED, which raised £7.4bn over the same period.4 EVs do not currently incur VED; however, from April 2025 both new and existing EVs will incur the lower first-year rate of VED, and the standard rate thereafter. The government has stated that this policy objective is to ensure that ‘all drivers begin to pay a fairer tax contribution’.5
£ 25 billion needs to be raised and it will be paid by ev drivers in the future.
THE CHEAP RIDE WILL SOON BE OVER.
My grammar may not be up to your high standard if you cannot comprehend taxing cars on the mileage achieved then there is no hope for you.
Why do people think they are clever when in truth they are just rude.
It was in reply to 'nano ' a few threads back who was stating ev cars are expensive and so pay a lot of vat.Your statement was literally “ice cars have tax on them” it sounded like you were suggested EV weren’t subject to VAT.
Not entirely sure what your point is now? That’s the problem with a lot of anti EV rants, they bounce around and make no sense. If your argument is but now EV are getting popular they’ll be subject to more taxes? Well, yes. There were tax breaks in the beggining to help the transition and now EV are becoming the norm they should go: you don’t seem to understand that this argument kind of proves EV have become mainstream.
Plus you don’t appear to understand this is opposing your original post which stated that second hand EV were too cheap. So which is it? Are EV too cheap or too expensive?
They will, but it will be later and it will be when fuel cars are no longer an option. But you'll still also be able to fuel from home, and won't have to pay for physical fuel, only some form of contributory tax so not really sure what you are popping a vein about. It was in reply to 'nano ' a few threads back who was stating ev cars are expensive and so pay a lot of vat.
FUEL DUTY ON ICE CARS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT WILL> EV DRIVERS WILL PAY SOONER OR LATER>

Yes. And btw nano was correct you do pay a lot of tax on a new EV. Which is why I corrected you. It was you who changed the position of attack to fuel duty. I get it mate, you're scared of EV and you don't understand them. Just realise that some of us have had this conversation with Anti EV guys and it gets dizzy8ng the fact you all just reel off the usual anti EV memes. And when one gets shot down you then just switch to the next memes. It's hard to keep up. You seem to be angry that EV are too cheap, are too expansive, don't pay tax and do pay tax.It was in reply to 'nano ' a few threads back who was stating ev cars are expensive and so pay a lot of vat.

I am not angry, i do not need correcting, i am not attacking, i was pointing out there is a large loss to the goverment's coffers which will have to be replaced .Yes. Yes i think we all agree with you. My only issue is that it's quite dizzying when you just supply rapid fire anti EV memes. And yiu yourself admit you were responding to a post which said EV owners pay a lot of VATI am not angry, i do not need correcting, i am not attacking, i was pointing out there is a large loss to the goverment's coffers which will have to be replaced .
I see i am not the only one who needs a lesson in grammar.
I mean that's funny in the sense that your car has probably already been stolen.I filled up my 5.0 litre V8 supercharged car at the petrol station on Friday. Estimated range was 210 miles. That's less than my EV
No point to this post, other than it amused me.
It will need to be replaced, but it won't disproportionally hurt EV owners, it will stay the other way around for a long time yet.FUEL DUTY ON ICE CARS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT WILL> EV DRIVERS WILL PAY SOONER OR LATER>
It's not going to happen, without doing the same to ICE cars too, if they scale one, they will scale the other. Both are already taxed per mile, to a degree, with fuel duty, but that is imbalanced, but there are others it effects which are not imbalanced like depreciation, wear etc.It has been suggested that ev cars will be taxed on mileage as i have mentioned before.
Fixed it for yaIt has been suggested that cars will be taxed on mileage as i have mentioned before.
If one reads the daily mail one probably puts stock in right wing think tanks thinkingIt's not going to happen, without doing the same to ICE cars too, if they scale one, they will scale the other. The only time I've heard of it being mentioned to specifically target EV drivers was a year ago, from a right wing think tank, and those don't have much of a future themselves, never mind have a chance of setting policy going forward.
