England win Euros/Boro get promoted

England for me.

Love that everyone gets involved, fans of different clubs coming together and non-football fans too.

England doing well is one of the few things that unites the country.

I've seen Boro get promoted, I've seen them win a cup. They get a go at promotion every year and multiples chances at cups each year too.

For those that don't want us to become "fodder" every week in the Prem, how exactly do they see us making the jump beyond that level if we don't go through that phase as a club?

Boro win Promotion
Pools get back to the FL
Stockton Town, Redcar Athletic, Redcar Town, Boro Rangers and Whitby town win promotion
Then England maybe

We'd be talking about winning the Euros for decades.
If it happens, sadly, I think a large and vocal section of the footballing fraternity won't be able to talk about it without saying, "won it in spite of Southgate" as their opening comment. We are in a different era to '66. We are in the age of misinformation, where memes, crackpot theories, ignorance, and entitlement are abundant. A Euro win would be accompanied with "we should win it with that squad", "he had a lucky run", "Spain didn't turn up for the final", "it's hardly a world cup", "won it with boring football, yes we scored 22 goals in teh competition, but it was against weak sides". etc. etc. Then it will be "we MUST win the world cup with this team" and whichever poor sap takes over as manager will be on a hiding to nothing and utterly vilified at every turn.

I mean we even get that at Boro with Steve McClaren largely not being fondly remembered.

Would love to see England win the Euros but if I had to choose I'd prefer to see Boro get promoted.

Getting promoted would present us with an opportunity to re-establish ourselves as a Premier League club.

Seeing England win a tournament would be great but once the nation would be done celebrating there wouldn't be much else to look forward to.
