Always seem to be just on the cusp and have a last minute reprieve
What makes you say that? With sheff U and Luton already pretty much relegated next season
With sheff U and Luton already pretty much relegated next season, Everton will probably survive again.
I've had a quick look at the last 40 yrs or so and it looks like Sunderland get the award - with four last day survivals (80/81, 81/82, 01/02, 08/09). Which is nice. (Top flight only).Top of my head I'd say Charlton.
And Brighton hit the woodwork plenty of times in that game - freak resultIt was that completely unexpected and out of character beating of Brighton a few weeks back that got them out of it .. even a draw there would have seen them gone .. it's a funny old game, as they say ..
See above. I'm pretty sure it's Sunderland.I’d say West Ham
Probably Hartlepool in the 70's and 80's, there used to be a vote to see if the bottom club in the old 4th would be replaced by the top team in the conference, because league clubs didn't want relegation Hartlepool used to avoid relegation year after year.
Only Arsenal and Everton remain as the two teams that have never been out of the top tier in my lifetime.Everton hold the record in English football as spending the most seasons in the top flight, and they are second only to Arsenal for consecutive seasons in the top flight.
