I read he died in a care home in Darlington. I waa surprised to hear that as I don't think he has any connection to the area?

I had the pleasure to meet him . In fact he acted out the Scotch egg scene for me lol ,and we let him and his friends have a " after time " drink in our Pub in Soho.
He appeared no different to his Character, but I only had a few hours with him

Very sad and he's been ill for sometime.
A little disappointing that Ricky Gervais seemingly didn't make any attempt to see him, given how long he's been poorly and I'm a Ricky Gervais fan.

He did look dreadful in After Life though.

Given what you hear about Gervais these days I'm not sure him not visiting him is such a bad thing.
Besides were they actually friends or just work colleagues ? I'm not sure I'd go an visit someone I worked with about 15 years ago if I hadn't spoken to. them in the intervening years.

Watched a mildly diverting film called Bromley Boys the other day that he was in. Never looked like a picture of health, so not exactly a bolt from the blue, but sad nevertheless.
Responsible for two all time classic sitcom moments in the Office with the appraisal scene and the explanation of the word "fannypack", which isn't a bad legacy.
