Ex Boro players you forgot, where they are now.

Thought this would be fun, find myself Googling our ex players from time to time to see what they're up to.

Got reminded of Seb Hines on the Worst Boro 11 thread. God he was bad.

Well he retired in 2017 at Orlando. Moved into coaching the youngsters before being promoted to interim manager of the first team in 2022. He became full time manager this year.

I believe he was once a team mate of Kaka!

Hines was one of the many defenders that came through the academy. I thought he was OK.

Ok - how about József Varga

Single season here in 2013-14. I think he was a centre mid but he played at right back. I thought he was pretty good at the time and remember thinking that we should buy him. We had a EUR 650k option according to the internet, but Karanka did not take it up. He went back to Hungary and seemingly stayed there.

Loved him. He was excellent in that first 6 months under Karanka

I thought Hines was alright.. shocking injury record.

I read that Didier Digard is now managing in the French top flight and is flying.

I seen that to, happy for him. Was dubbed the next viera when he signed. Another shocking injury record

Didn't Cattermole snap his leg in half or something.

I've blanked out a lot of that period.. there'll be loads of players under Strachan and Mowbray that you could tell me their names and I wouldn't even recognise it or them.

Yeah, strangely it was Cattermole who injured him! Digard was his replacement haha

Cattermole slammed into Digard’s thigh I think. It was an awful tackle and looked pre-meditated to me. I may have caused a mass brawl, I can’t remember, but it was dreadful. Think he only got booked as well.

How about Australian striker Scott McDonald. He had one of the worst first touches I’ve ever seen on a Boro player but still managed to contribute a goal roughly every three games. I thought he’d be brilliant because he scored in the Champions League against AC Milan. He is now the manager of Australian side Gold Coast Knights.
He actually had a decent scoring record be didn't he?! I was excited about him but he was pretty crap! Slated the club on the way out saying he wanted to play in a proper atmosphere again!

Probably was pre meditated, we sold Cats to sign Digard with the new recruitment model

He was was one of those players who to me at least looked pretty poor and lightweight on the pitch, but he kept scoring goals, and so ended up with a record that is actually very good on paper. Looking at his career stats, his scoring record is very impressive (apart from Milwall) - one of the few strikers who we seemingly did not ruin.

Me and our old fella went to an Old Firm game at Ibrox, in the Rangers end. Was through dad's work.

Celtic won 0-1.. McDonald scored an absolute pearler from about 25 yards. Was buzzing when we signed him! I thought he served his purpose here. Scored goals.
