Led by Football Supporters Europe (FSE), of which the FSA is a member, fan groups across the continent today united to condemn plans by a selection of Europe’s biggest clubs to form a breakaway European Super League.

That's absolutely it Wilf - they would want all the media money from their own country as well as Europe. They want to be the regional teams. ie Can you imagine a club for the north of England and all the kids support them as the northern brand. That is the sort of thing. It isn't a case of saying good riddance as they intend to take all the money, all the media coverage, all the players and all the fans and long term kick off at 3pm. They want to be Football.

I don't want them to go, as they will take most of the advertising revenue with them and will continually poach players.

This requires unity, and national FA support across the continent. Hundreds of clubs will go to the wall if this were to happen.

A European super league is the beginning of Franchise Football, where teams move from city to city to chase more revenue. NFL Lite.

They can keep it and hoard all the wealth till it implodes.

sadly it probably won't implode. But it won't be worth what they think it is. In fact it would end up being highly uncompetitive for all about about 6 clubs.

So, call their bluff, all national FAs should instigate a rule that any member club must sign exclusivity agreements, that mean they do not sign for a competitor league without national association approval, subject to a 5 billion dollar get out clause. This must be signed by the start of the 2021-22 season or clubs will be expelled from competition. If they want to ruin the leagues they have earned from, then the 6 english teams can pay 30 billion to leave.

Put the pressure on them, keep it on them. Unity!

Without even looking at the European situation I'm very wary of American ownership of football clubs and how that could pan out. 9 premier league teams are now wholly or partly owned by Americans or American companies, they'll be looking to follow the closed league model from back home to ensure their investments stay on the gravy train.

Maybe something like the RFU rules where players cant play for national teams unless they play for their home league.

Although I am not sure how many players would put England appearances in front of super league money.

I am sure the Prem League under Scudamore employed an American sports finance strategist to look at potential future models, and his recommendation was to reduce the size of the league and to stop relegation so teams could budget with the long term stability in mind.

They really want their cake and to eat it at the cost of everyone else.

Well it's a great source of sponsorship income. I mean brand Beckham would never have existed but for his stellar service to the national team. He is the extreme example, but he is far richer due to his England career.

i cant imagine 'A Northern Team' representing the region, or geordies, tykes, mancs and scousers and everything in-between all supporting them - it aint going to happen.

but if manchester and liverpool clubs want to escape the drudgery of the premiershytte to play milan, paris, munich every week, theyre welcome to it - dull as ditchwater that'll be and it wont be football, it'll be 15 mins of non contact running with a ball rolling around, followed by a 5 minute break for adverts and be repeated for a 2 hour programme.. no relegations, nil drama, fourk-all.

Ad Infinitum would be a good name for the Cup competition that they come up with - The Ad Infinitum Cup.

as for poaching players the top teams already do that, liverpool have just taken a kid from Derby, Dortmund took a kid from Birmingham. Chelsea have done it since abramovitch turned up - the scandal of teenage pre-pubescent african kids going to clubs in the belguim leagues is allowed - next to nowt said.

Football has never really needed advertising revenue when you get down to the nuts and bolts of it.
The Sunday league teams I used to play for in Guisborough, Marske, Redcar used to take subs off of the players to pay officials.

Different times though
