Fao rob or anyone what the boro policy re vapes

I posted the policy last week - they are not allowed.

Helena Bowman from MFC stated at the last fans firum

HB advised that smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is banned fully from the Riverside and where possible the club will take action against individuals using vapes. HB advised that the EFL are currently looking into a campaign to highlight that vaping is banned in stadiums and MFC will use various channels including the big screen, programme etc to remind fans that it is banned within our stadium.
HB advised that supporters who witness people using e-cigarettes should report it to a steward. Supporters using vapes will be given words of advice, but the Club reserves the right to take further action if the problem persists.

If the stewards are looking at the crowd they should notice it themselves and not require other supporters to report it. It’s blatantly obvious and the plume of smoke is the give away. On a related note, I watched a lad walk past a steward and up to his seat with a pint in each hand on Friday night, completely unchallenged.

Nothing blatantly obviously about it if you're not thick. I vape but I'm not a child who wants to have bubble gum flavour. . If you are discreet about inhaling it then nothing comes out. No vapour and no smell. No interference with other attendees.

It's interesting, the NHS are reportingly going to give out vapes to save peoples lives. Yet MFC have banned it in an open air stadium.
I am not blaming either, so not suggesting either is right or wrong.

I don't vape and it's been 25 years since I smoked.

It really boils my p1$$ that people who know things are not permitted still carry on anyway in the selfish belief that they are above the rules or the rules only apply to others. The modern day self entitled, if they can’t go 45-50 mins without a beer, wine, fag or vape, then they really have a problem, a problem the club really shouldn’t be expecting me or other decent fans to have to bring to their attention.

The club employ stewards, empower and make them do their job and look for the breaches, there are plenty of misdemeanours all over. They have cameras too, use them, otherwise the customer or person reporting might get grief from the friends and family who are with them or close by them.

I've always been a, sort the policing out first before bringing in new rules/laws person. Sadly in this modern world that's not very popular, speeders are always the first to moan about speeding cars- true statistic.

Why is vaping banned, but alcohol is served?
Alcohol is a far greater cause of trouble and injury to health than a black cherry vape?

Great post.

Because Middlesbrough Football Club have said so, it is a privately owned ground and business and can set its rules as it sees fit., I think it is an EFL rule anyway too. Vaping is largely unregulated smoking, how does a club police the actual content of what someone is actually smoking or vaping? A label may say black cherry vape, the contents may be somewhat different, people are funny like that. I dare say people could smuggle alcohol in flasks and the like too mind.

Fans do not dictate to clubs what is an isn’t permitted. I am sure re alcohol, the answer lies in the fact the club has an alcohol license makes money from its alcohol license and alcohol is seen as a part of the match-day experience by many fans, you can’t lawfully take it to the stands seats though.

Vaping is not smoking. I understand why some ‘decent fans’ fans might have an issue, but there does seem to be an over reaction on here. I am more concerned with the sniff heads, idiots wanting to get into fights and the blokes who had a skin full of Tetley Imperial and a curry the night before and proceed to blow stinky farts throughout the match!! How about people who swear in front of kids or those that stand a lot at the match? Actually why not just ban people.

Smoking is an adjective described as ‘emitting smoke or visible vapour’ in my dictionary. Some, but not all of the other issues you raised are clearly valid too, but the rules exist, you and I do not have a personal veto, the fact you don’t like the rule of feel others are more important is neither here nor there.

It’s horrible, it’s selfish and it surely can be avoided for two hours until you leave the ground.

Don't get it at all.

I don't actually mind vaping myself, but it's not hard to just not do it for 2 hours instead of being selfish.

I know it’s their job but given the aggression of some supporters when compared to the stewards hourly rate it’s probably not always worth the aggravation.
