I will give you The Godfather, the book just wasn't as good as the film in my opinion.
Have you come across any?

I'm the other way round. Brilliant series of books, bang average film(s)Dune! Fantastic film but personally, I found the book heavy going.
Lord of the Rings
I'd say the same about One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Very different (the book mainly takes place in the Chief's head), but both brilliant.Perhaps Midnight Express ? I struggle to think of many though.
Trainspotting is not better, just different, and both brilliant in their own right.
Um. The book came out after the film; it had been written concurrently with the making of the film and some of the plot points are different. The real inspiration is a Clarke short story from the fifties called The Sentinel. Sorry, I'm a 2001 nerd! Not many I'd imagine, but 2001 definitely.
Never, the book is one of the very best examples of the fiction thriller genre ever written. The film is good, but not that goodThe Day of the Jackal 1971.
