Finally got rid of Virgin, so my next question is......

Have a look on moneysaving experts website or one of comaprisons sites like moneysupermarket or comparethemarket and see what deals are being offered by the different companies.

depends on your requirements, but for bog standard non-cable broadband I'd recommend vodafone. but they are all much of a muchness.

What people's experience of using 4G/5G broadband?
I am sick tot he back teeth of being ripped off by Virgin - to be honest, their broadband is usually bang on but it is ridiculously overcharged. I am pushed to have a landline(that isnt a landline it is VoIP) and a cack TV service for £92/month.
I am tempted to disconnect and get 5G because we have a strong 5G signal -if it isnt any good then I will rejoin Virgin on a new offer and get a lot more than I am getting now.

My previous Virgin deal (£28 / month for M200) expired in June. I called to cancel and got M250 for £31 / month for 2 years.

We've just ditched Virgin and have gone with Three 5G. It's been spot on - very fast. It's just £20 a month, and with the first three months free. Also, you can get £65 cashback via Topcashback.

I phoned to disconnect and managed to get the same package for £48/month down from £92/month.

I really do want to disconnect but I will wait for 5G routers to come down in price.

Check for youfibre in your area. Otherwise stay with virgin ditch the tv and landline and tge price should be far more reasonable

i cancelled my virgin package after being out of contract and paying 52 quid. Went through the who cancellation package on live chat. They called me the next day and offered me m125 package for £17 for the whole of my 18 month contract.

Worth cancelling if you can to get a better deal.

I don't understand how/why people splash £92 on broadband??

Anyway, 4G/5G is never going to be as stable and fast as a hard wired connection. I'd love to be proved wrong.

Thanks all. I've decided to go with Three. Virgin had been very good until this year when my contract ended. They increased my payment from £38 pm to £68pm. This included a TV that I did not use. I wanted BB only but they still pushed the TV at me and tried to reduce the price to £62 pm. No matter how hard I tried to explain to them that all I wanted was BB they kept trying to push the TV at me. It took three days on Whats App where they continually dropped messages, and a letter to Virgin In Sunderland, where their response was a call from the sales department to try to sell me a TV package. I finally got a letter from them on Saturday to confirm my disconnection date. So my 23 years with Virgin has come to an end because of p!ss poor customer relations and extravagant price gauging. I'll never use them again.

I'm still waiting for Youfibre to be installed in the area of Thornaby I live in.Current prices are approx half what I'm currently paying with V M.I just wish Youfibre would bl00dy hurry up!

I ditched VM for YF about 2 months ago, getting 1gig up and down for £1 per month for 3 months, then £30 per month, so far so good getting very close to the gig

Drop me a PM if you want a referral, you'll get an extra 2 months free on top of what their new customer offer are.

Have you checked with them for an approx build date? You can also check broadband maps to see how close to you they've gone live with

5g can be great if the best you can otherwise get is 72mb type openreach but agree it will never be decent unless all you do is browsing and Netflix

I have had terrible trouble with my broadband continually dropping out. I think it's a problem with my socket. Have had 5 or 6 engineers round. Never fix it. I have given up after the last time it went down and they said I needed to give them 2 days for the engineer to turn up. **** that.

Work gave me a 4g thing to use recently. It seems ok and hasn't been dropping out anywhere near as much as my broadband. Think I might switch to 4/5G. Will it give me enough to stream at 4k?

If you only use Netflix and the like they only use 10-25Mbps speeds so you can do that on 4g easily enough depending on your signal

Use your phone aka go to fast.com
